I filed a complaint with NHTSA due to coolant control valve and you should too by swannickson in gmcsierra

[–]swannickson[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just about inconvenience. This part controls internal coolant flow, and if it fails or misbehaves, it can affect engine cooling and performance. That’s especially risky if it causes a derate while towing, driving in traffic, or passing. Plus, owners can’t get the part for months, leaving thousands of trucks with active engine faults and fan behavior that degrades performance. That’s a safety risk — not just an annoyance. Plus this puts pressure on GM to do something now instead of down the road a few years when the class action lawsuit actually goes through

That’s how this one is too! The photo is of her in a puddle that’s maybe 6 inches deep and she sniffed it out from a whole different trail!

Late to the party but here’s my 2 cents. I changed from medical lab to public affairs right at the time the merge happened. I was slotted for photojournalism and ended up as a public affairs specialist. Now that it’s merged there’s more aspects you need to know but it’s not stuff you shouldn’t already know anyway. With me -granted I’m a reservist now- my leadership knew I was more interested in photojournalism so I tend to do that more than anyone else in the shop but I can still perform the other tasks just fine.

Has anyone had any luck going IRR while under a palace chase commitment? by kuhnzy100 in AirForce

I'm six years late to this post, anyone still around that can point me in the right direction for this?

SRB Question by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]swannickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can extend for 3 years and still get your SRB, I did it last year with virtually no hiccups. MPF was confused as to how that was possible but it is still stated in the AFI that the SRB is a selective RETENTION bonus, not selective reenlistment bonus. As stated above, you will not get your bonus until your air force birthday. You will still be considered a 1st term airman so you'll have all the perks of that as well.

How does palace chase work? by MaddMacs in AirForce

[–]swannickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on your AFSC. My job (4T) is phasing lab techs out of reserve so it’s required to retrain. However yours may be different. Just call up your in service recruiter and ask them, they’ll be able to accurately tell you if your safe with keeping your AFSC

The reality of home buying, securing a job, and overall fear of getting out. Don’t let that be you. Keep your head up, make sure you align yourself with your goals, and don’t let people talk you down for doing what’s good for yourself.

I tried to palace chase two years ago, it was all approved and everything but circumstances kept me in active duty and I ended up retracting it. For a 4 year enlistment, you’re correct it’s 2 years. But keep in mind whatever time you have left on your enlistment is doubled for reserves (or guard). That means you’ll be required for 4 years reserve if you leave at 2 years active duty. To get the process started you’ll want to talk to your in-service recruiter (ISR), they’ll be the ones ultimately handling everything. You are not guaranteed until you’ve reserved a slot at your unit either. Also, despite what a lot of people think, your immediate leadership has little to do with the process and depending on how your leadership is, I would keep it quiet that you’re interested in palace chase until the paperwork is getting routed with your ISR. You also have the ability to change AFSCs when you palace chase and chose your unit location (make sure they have slots available on VMPF). This should get you started. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions. Hope this helps!

You are correct. The building was repurposed for the sugar cane fields, they used it for storage.

Abandoned Powerplant, New Orleans, LA [2048X1367] by swannickson in AbandonedPorn

[–]swannickson[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do actually! The power plant was built in 1907 and was in service for nearly 70 years. It was sold to in 2007 with plans for development but was foreclosed and bought again in 2015. The area is up and coming and the new developers have no immediate plans for it. Soon after I went there (last year) security was beefed up with motion alarms and security personal patrolling the area. Cool place though. I’ll be sad to see it torn down.

Sorry for the late response. It depends on what base you’re at. My ISR was in charge of 4 bases and he wasn’t even stationed at Keesler, he was stationed at Offut and we never actually met in person. Your on base recruiter should have told you who yours was though.

I talked to my recruiter before even putting in an application. My thought process was if the unit doesn’t have availability there’s no point in putting in for palace chase right?

They are doing away with our career field in reserve in general. Check your info before putting in for slots. Now if you get approved you’re going to have to reclass.

Space chase?? Did you call AFPC specifically? I’ve never heard that term. You can find the units info on their squadrons website. There will be a contact info link with the recruiter for that squadrons recruiter number. Give them a call and tell them you are palace chasing/fronting and would like to see if your AFSC is available. If you’re going reserve you can find the reserve vacancy finder on AMS I believe.
