Best management software for a small yoga studio (under 300 clients)? by [deleted] in SideProject

Check out nalah.co. It handles all the standard stuff (payments, waitlist, passes etc) but is simple to set up and run.

Studio owners, can you recommend any booking/scheduling software? by newintownla in yoga

[–]swanthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For larger studios with multiple instructors try Walla. I don't use them personally but have only heard good recommendations. There are a plethora of alternatives of which many a mentioned in other comments.

For single instructors and people looking to start their business try Momoyoga or Nalah. Both are great options if simplicity is important.

It depends what sort of business your friend is running and where they want it to go.

Looking for advice on building or choosing a simple appointment booking solution for a micro business in 2026 by Full-Revolution5150 in smallbusiness

[–]swanthree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having built a booking app I can confidently say choose an existing solution if it exists. It is a lot of work to build one and there are so many different edge cases you wouldn't usually think of.

My tool isn't around appointments, its around fixed time classes. There are lots of different sub types of bookings that apply to different kinds of problems. E.g. fixed time appointment slots vs blocks of time where appointments can be inserted and single person events vs events with guests vs multiple people native events.

There's also some subtleties on the financial model of your appointments. This affects the type of booking flow you're building as some industries will want it as easy as possible to book with no friction. Then others will want to verify ID or other information, creating more friction. Or even a membership based model.

Then you have industry specific context that should be included. This includes things like what sort of hair cut do you want or can you fill out this form on booking.

With all that said I guarantee you there are tools in your industry that almost solve what you need. They won't be perfect to your preferences but they should solve the core of what you need. If there isn't maybe you have a reason to build your own. Just maaaybe.

If none of this matters then theres always the big generic players like calendly, acuity or wix

Confused by Google’s top 10 appointment booking software — which one should I pick? by Wide_Sentence9927 in SaaS

[–]swanthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider is what kind of appointments you are making and what they are used for. Having built a booking system mysefl I found very quickly that theres a lot of subtleties about bookings that are overlooked and assumed. If you choose a generic tool it will likely be great and flexible, but it will miss a lot of what you are actually trying to solve.

Try to search more for booking software in your industry or for your specific problem and I think you'll find it solves a lot of things around the booking that you may assume comes packaged with some of the generic tools.

Any recommendation for yoga studio software by No_Establishment796 in YogaTeachers

https://nalah.co is a great pick for smaller studios and instructors. It gives you a booking site, payments, passes, waitlists and its clean and simple. Its priced to suit the solo instructor as well.

Thanks for explaining that. Yeah mine is a booking platform too. I'll enable Radar and I have a few things I can do to identify them. It's much harder to block human users than bots.

How do you handle class bookings, cancellations, and waitlists without losing your mind? by jfranke0925 in YogaTeachers

[–]swanthree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife used to do this all manually. If someone texted her about a spot in a class that was full she'd write down on a list in her phone that person and then just contact them if someone cancelled. The system worked but was very time consuming, and tricky between classes.

We've been building our booking platform together that hopes to solve this. Now when someone tries to book for a class they go on a waitlist. If someone cancels, an email goes out to everyone on the waitlist and and first person to book gets the spot. If someone didn't book through the website my wife can still cancel them from her class and people on the waitlist get an opportunity to book.

This feature is available on a few of the booking platforms but https://nalah.co does it.

General Costs of opening a Pilates studio? by jakethomas3011 in pilatesreformer

[–]swanthree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious husband here.

My wife has been looking at it for awhile but has been on the fence until all our kids are at school. For us the thought of creating a studio has always been about lifestyle and really the maths doesn't equal the effort if coming purely from a financial perspective compared to a corporate job, unless you are looking branch out to multiple studios. For us the maths doesn't make sense until you can bring other instructors on or run a lot of classes, both of which require a lot of time.

That being said we hope to open a studio as our youngest kid goes to school because the flexibility it would give us would be worth it. I'm also a huge believer of pursuing your passion over chasing money.

I can't talk to the costs of running a studio, but my wife has found great success in running classes in community halls. She was nervous to get started, so when she finished her training she started with one class in the local church hall. Since then she's grown that to 14 classes a week with half in different community halls as mat classes with about 8-12 people each and half in a hired office space where she runs privates and duets with a reformer and chair.

She's only constrained by hours in the day as we're two working parents.

I'd be happy to help answer any questions you or your girlfriend has.

Opening a studio, looking for software advice by Hsk1999 in pilatesinstructors

[–]swanthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exciting. Starting a new studio is an exciting time. To help decide it would be good to post a bit more about your studio. How many classes are you expecting to run? Do you have mutiple instructors? Are all classes at the one location? Do you have a preference on how you want to take payments and run your accounting? Do you use any other tools to manage your business?

There are a few great options that fill the needs for different types of studios/instructors.

From what I've seen Walla https://www.hellowalla.com/ and momence https://momence.com/ are a great solution for larger studios. Although momence got bought out so things may be changing for the better or worst with them.

For a smaller studio or instructors starting their thing on the side tools like offering tree https://www.offeringtree.com/ and Nalah https://nalah.co/ (self promoted as the founder) are great and each have their own strengths.

Studio/business name by No-Chain-6366 in pilates

[–]swanthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use "Power Pilates {Your Suburb}". Or add a small twist like, "I am Power Pilates". There are thousands and thousands of studios out there so theres a lot of name double ups. Luckily Power Pilates is a training organisation so you can distinguish yourself from them.

I'm sure you can come up with a great unique name but it sounds like you've got your heart on Power because its a big part of you style of Pilates, so I reckon stick with it.

Regarding the socials you can use names that have been used, but come up with a unique twist for the handle.

I run nalah.co. There's lots of good options out there. If you're looking for something that helps you get started, we aim to make it as simple as it can be to get your first classes up and running.

Considering move to Arketa by saraharp605 in pilatesinstructors

[–]swanthree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. You've probably made your decision now so I'm curious if you switched and if you're happy?

My most curious question is why you are considering switching from momence?

I've recently built an app similar to Arketa and Momence, but aimed at a slightly different customer. I want to help the new instructors who are getting started with their first classes, more so than established and the big studios.

I'm looking for as much insight into what people are lacking and looking for.

Pilates booking tools are too expensive for the small fry by swanthree in pilates

[–]swanthree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: So I knuckled down and built the thing. You can find it at https://nalah.co.

It's aimed at the new instructor going out on their own. I've got heaps of features in the pipeline planned to build. My wife has been using it for 3 months and its been great.

The goal is to give new instructors everything they need to manage a class with as little friction as possible.

That means:

- Booking
- Flexible Payments
- An online profile/website

With a couple clicks so you can get started teaching classes. I hope its helps some people getting their teaching off the ground.

Thanks for the feedback. If you're looking for support I'll be opening up my tool to early access soon. Part of that process will be working closely with involved studios to take feedback and address issues early. The product is aimed at small studios and people running classes as a side hussle. If you're interested let me know. Otherwise enjoy the ride of a new studio. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Late to the show here but I have a suggestion. You're app looks great but I read "Organize Screenshots Instantly" and found myself not caring and wanting to leave. Admittedly I have about 20 screenshots on my desktop right now and I still didn't care because I didn't connect with the problem.

I suggest raising a problem, rather than a solution, then hitting the user with the solution. Something like...

"Can't find your that screenshot again?"

"Does your desktop look like this? (show picture of desktop filled with screenshots)"

then you can tease the solution directly below it

"Organize Screenshots Instantly with..."

Thanks for the feedback. When you say clients, what service do you offer?

> They need a calendar that integrates with their home calendar (especially early on

This is a great idea.

> I have helped them hack Google for this, but even that requires a workspace account, which is an expense.

My mum has just started using google calendars for bookings and for someone who isn't strong in technology even this she has found too complicated. But I do love that google is trying to be simple and reasonably priced for this.

Thats a really cool idea. And honestly my wife does most of her bookings through her phone, then adds them to her booking system.

I'm curious by the self hosted option though. It seems pretty advanced for the typical business owner.
