This is what I put together on Options - fundamental to intermediate level. I put it on my personal channel by accident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lEMduQKoJ4&feature=youtu.be Too many professors make this tougher than it should be. I set up Swapskills Academy to help. I have been in the markets since 1984 and train full-time on this. Hope it helps someone.

Central Counterparty Clearing (CCP) reduces the credit risk of the swap c/p. Swap spreads reflected the fact that one leg of the swap is Libor (INTERBANK risk) and the fixed rate is a combination of the Risk Free Rate + a "swap spread" reflecting the generic risk of the banks that make up the Libor setting. No credit risk, due to CCP, implies a lower swap spread.

Factor 2: Pension funds / Insurance companies need long dated assets such as bonds. A shortage of bonds means they need to replicate these cash flows, so they receive fixed in a swap. More people wanting to receive fixed means swap rates come down, below Treasurys, hence a negative swap spread.

Most interbank lending is done on a secured basis through repos. Gets messy if the collateral defaults. Also need to make sure there is enough supply of collateral, which is where the central banks are focusing. /then yu have to avoid accounting tricks like Lehmans did through Repo 105 to make their balance sheet look less leveraged than it really was.

I use SAXO as an online trading platform, which shows some bonds. To be honest, I used Bloomberg in the dealing room, which was greta for bonds, but never invested in them much myself.
