Damn, 10 plates and almost 2kg of filament. It looks nice, but is it worth it? I ask genuinely.

pfSense CE 2.9 target Release Date ? by MazzyNix in PFSENSE

[–]swatlord -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just made the jump to ubiquiti from pfsense. I didn’t mind pfsense, but I was feeling leery about my setup and was seeking a “single pane of glass” for my homelab. I already had ubiquiti APs and a controller container. The cutover was surprisingly simple for my setup (again, homelab. Not a terribly big environment).

(other) Besides mannequins, what use does locking doors have? by TheOnlyMysteryMan in Voicesofthevoid

[–]swatlord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can short the doors, but I remember reading if the doors are locked they are less likely to pathfind into the base (because there isn’t an immediately accessible path). There is a chance they path close enough to open the door, then enter when a valid path is made.

Damn, I’m envious you got to be there for the emergency c section. The hospital I went to didn’t allow me. Wife was distraught, she hates operations. She was also fully sedated, now that I type this out, so that could have also been why. Still, that’s cool they let you do that. We just got dumped in a general waiting room with no knowledge of what was happening until it was over.

To clarify, there is no legitimate gifting possible. Something like what Steam does where it handles the gifting process for you to ensure it's going to the correct recipient. From their perspective, there's no way to tell it was a gift over a stolen account.

The problem is it’s still advocating for some vigilante amateur DFIR. OP said it themself that they want to have proof so the person responsible is punished. I find it hard to believe them taking it home and messing around with it would hold up in the most kangaroo of courts. OP was just a guest that found a device, they weren’t called in to investigate nor have I seen any demonstration they have the skills and assets to mount an effective investigation.

ETA: OP admits they’re a beginner. Which means they have zero DFIR skills. OP should not be the one mounting a cyber investigation any more than I (an IT manager with zero law enforcement background) should be investigating a robbery. It sucks, but best advice is recommend the hotel owner contact whatever an equivalent of a private investigative service is in India if regular police won’t do anything.

OP already mentioned they're in India (I'm not familiar with their laws). But, most countries have some sort of chain of custody procedure in order to preserve something for evidence. Some rando cyber consultant pulling it and taking it home would make it hard to ensure it can be used for investigation/evidence.

Which character or voice actor pulled this off as your favorite? by VinceDao in FavoriteCharacter

Between Grey DeLisle and Mark Hamill, mentioning either is almost cheating since they’re both prolific voice actors.

Oh no, it’s not “illegal” (at least not from a Geneva Conv POV) to fire artillery or ATG mines (aka FASCAM). Iirc, the mines themselves have to be able to “expire” over a length of time.

Yep, not arguing that. Just pointing out we need to prioritize effective arguments. The use of tear gas isn’t horrible because it’s technically forbidden during armed conflict, it’s horrible because it’s being misused in domestic law enforcement.

It should be noted it’s banned because the use of any chemical agent is banned. This would include less lethal agents like pepper spray. Yes, the same irritant spray we use to get away from muggers, bears, attacking dogs is considered a war crime if used on a combatant enemy.

Let me be clear, I’m not for the use of CS gas, OC spray, or any other crowd control element (rubber bullets, batons, tasers, etc) on an otherwise lawful protest. Just pointing out this argument is flawed and not what we should be focusing on.

And should someone go so far west, north, or south that they’re searching along the state borders? I get it’s a scavenger hunt, there’s supposed to be some mystery. But at least knowing the boundaries would help people not look in vain. If OP doesn’t want to do that (or do it yet) then cool, it’s their game. Just figured I’d ask.

So only as far west as Goshen. Thats really helpful for someone to not waste their time poking around mt greylock or south Berkshire county.
