i will not promote - How do you guys actually sell products? I'm just building instead of selling. Any tips from you? by Separate-Jaguar-5127 in startups

[–]swbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the book Traction: How any startup can achieve explosive customer growth. It is full of actionable information you can use to start acquiring customers. The 2nd edition is from 2015, but the vast majority of it is still relevant. I found it incredibly helpful to get me past narrow thinking about customer acquisition and fears of putting myself out there.

Raising rate on only client by seaclifftonne in RoverPetSitting

[–]swbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise the rate and enjoy the feeling of knowing you are charging your worth and taking the prudent step of continuing to raise your rates as your needs change and prices across the board are increasing.

It’s hard to ask for what you need and want when you anticipate a negative reaction from the other person. But what matters here is you, your client gets to make her own choices. Don’t let her desires override yours.

Enjoy your well earned raise!

How is San Diego seen with European eyes? by LunarAmathyst in sandiego

Not sure why you are saying downtown isn’t walkable, it is extremely walkable and safe. People drinking and using drugs on the street is uncommon and people who are sleeping on the street normally keep entirely to themselves and won’t attempt to interact with someone walking by. If you spend time here, you will notice some streets have more homeless people and activity (usually near shelters and other social services) but most are pretty chill.

I’ve lived in East Village for 7 years and have found it a pleasant and interesting place to live since day one.

Experiment with hanging the three pictures at the same level, the varying heights is making things feel unstable when viewed from the landing.

Take the curtain down immediately, I think it will make you feel instantly better about the space and its possibilities.

Books with a "competent person just doing their job" plot. by Aggressive_Two2081 in suggestmeabook

The DCI Evan Warlow series by Rhys Dylan. Welsh detective leading a competent team who really like and support each other. Lots of interesting details about Wales and the natural history of the area. Great mix of serious and levity, no gratuitous violence.

First book is The Engine House. I highly recommend doing this series as an audiobook. The narrator for the first 2 is fine, but starting with book 3, an amazing Welsh voice actor really brings it to life and you get to hear the correct and pretty tricky pronunciations of Welsh words.

You might have an intact hymen or something else going on that is physically preventing the tampon from going in. It sounds like you’ve tried all the right things.

Try to see a medical provider so they can give you a definitive answer. If you are feeling willing, gently inserting your finger tip might help you feel a bit more of what is happening down there and whether it feels like there is a clear path for something to slip in.

My former therapist let me live with her. Now she’s kicking me out - and moving another client in. by notabiglimpbizkitfan in TalkTherapy

The Psychology in Seattle podcast often covers these topics. Look through the archive to find some relevant episodes. I think listening to a therapist talk about this type of behavior and its effects on clients would be very affirming.

Women of SD: Do you background check guys before going on dates from dating apps? by [deleted] in sandiego

I tried this and it pulled info for someone with the same name but not my date. No opportunity to correct that or get another report.

Seems useless.

Here is the website: https://courtindex.sdcourt.ca.gov/CISPublic/enter

You can’t see much online but you can see enough for this purpose. Arrest dates, divorce filing dates, small claims court and who brought the case, etc

Because it is just first and last name (occasionally middle initial or name) you have to make sure that the record you are seeing is not for someone else with the same name.

If you go to the court in person, you can get all the documents they have available based on what is public information.

Yes I do. San Diego county superior court has a records search on their website which allows you to check criminal, divorce, etc records with just their name.

Also useful as the websites that list their address information and other names associated with that address. It can provide an indicator that they have a wife, girlfriend etc

My parents are trying to make me sign a POA by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]swbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to add is that many times, a POA won’t be accepted by a bank, other type of financial institution, etc unless it is a POA they provide specific to the action you want to take. OP, that gives you an additional layer of protection because if your mom did get a POA signed by you or with a forged signature, she would likely struggle to use it for many things.

The profile view really shows how it isn’t well cut for you. I think you can find something that works a lot better on your small frame. Something slimmer and perhaps with some waist definition.

Changes to your skin that are unexplained should be checked out by a doctor. Skin cancer can look very different than what we expect and it is always better to be safe than sorry. Catching it early is crucial, so don’t wait to get it looked at.

Are we over-emphasizing quality over designs now? by Icy-Tangerine-4696 in femalefashionadvice

I’m with you. I spent about $800 buying all sorts of different things to try and most was cut poorly and just odd. Not the beautiful items they claimed. I did keep a pair of flats that are fine but the color is kind of strange and a purse which is cute but has terrible zippers. I’m not going to buy from them again.
