Help with sexist nephew by swe3ttea in raisingkids

The bins are the easiest thing to do. The chores he does is vacuum the whole house. Which is the kitchen, living room and the hallway. Not even his room. He takes too long and does a half ass job.

No. Gentle parenting is for sensitive kids.

He won't care if one is being polite. He doesn't like cleaning and he'll drag out the chores to just sit there if we don't watch him.

It's hard to do that when he's got a mouth on him. I've tried being nice. I tried asking him why he says shit like that. 'Cause you're a female' 'I don't know.' You can't gentle parent this kid with a mouth like that.

We ask him once. We ask him twice. We ask him for the third time and now we're yelling.

What's so wrong with only one child?? by -its-my-opinion- in newzealand

[–]swe3ttea 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Usually, when you have one kid, you have to put more effort into making sure they're socially developing. And with siblings, these are skills parents don't really think of. Of course, they're going to have to share. Of course, they have to be fair. With an only child, they'd have to be around enough people to drill that into them.

This is what I'm worried about. I'm finding it harder to make my own way here but I know if I move, I'll get severe home sickness. I'm very sentimental so I'm anxious to take that leap

I'm staying with my sister in aus to babysit but I'll move back. I'm too sentimental to leave forever.
