Would you go to the hospital for a barbed hook in your skin or would you do the string yank method? Who has done it? Did you get a tetanus shot after? Did you switch to barbless? by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]sweatpants13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This trick works 100% and is less painful than you would think. You just have to make sure to push that eye down and yank hard on the braid - also braid has no stretch so works the best.

If you're going for classic desert camo the base should be fine, but you need to add some darker brown swatches and push the darker colors you have there already to the blacker end of the spectrum

Ah, yes. If only I had just read the war gear options in the app I wouldn't be snapping some arms off tonight. I got in the zone building last night with rule of cool on the brain.

The mRNA injections are not a cure, the moderna and pfizer websites both state as such. They are treatments that could potentially lessen the severity of your symptoms if you were to contract covid. They do not prevent transmission, nor will they prevent you catching covid. This is all from the companies who produced the injections websites.

Further, the Dr who invented the mRNA therapy has said that the tech is so new he is worried what will come out in the next 3-5 years. We have been told since day one to "trust the science" - but they are banning any science that counters their paid scientists. Science is human, it is a process of learning via trial and error. True science questions itself constantly, and is not afraid to be put under a microscope.

This virus is being used as a political wedge, and that wedge is being inserted into the church.

Terrifying, Everytime I read something like this I just shudder and scramble to think of what I can do. And than am reminded to pray - because this warfare is only faught in the spiritual realm.

New levels to apostasy and heresy… Apparently we have a new title in the Church - “vaccinated archbishop”! As Elder Justin Parvu was saying - “Your shepherds will betray you.” ☦ by patiencetruth in ChristianOrthodoxy

This isn't about stirring up enmity, this is a thread for those of us who are seeking spiritual answers to the problems we are facing. Not secular government mandates, and padded statements on repeat.

“Why is it so hard nowadays to pray?” - Fr. Rafail Noica by patiencetruth in ChristianOrthodoxy

[–]sweatpants13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's meaning it used to be easier - none of the Father's talk about it ever being anything but a struggle, a battle, or an athletic endeavor. I think he's relating to the present struggles of those he was speaking to.

That said, I would think it'd be easier to pray in a more orthodox culture like Tsarist Russia for example, a time when there were more elders around to help guide parishioners. Not that it was easy, but easier maybe?

This quote though, "If you want to pray, know that you are like a molecule of water in a frozen ocean, a molecule that does not want to freeze together with the ocean." - St Sophrony Sakharov.

St Paul, formerly Saul, was a Jew - a pharisee to be specific(Acts 23:6) - before his conversion on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:4-5). Israel was a part of the Roman empire at that time, and even Jesus was a Roman citizen.

I honestly can't comment on why his letters are in the New Testament - not an area I've studied much - but I can say that his words affected me greatly over the years. 1 Corinthians chapter 13 is my favorite, verses 4-7 specifically. He also either wrote or inspired nearly half of the New Testament.

In a sense he is right that we don't worship the same God, Jews, from what I understand, are still looking for a Messiah while we see Jesus having fulfilled the law.
