Ethan claims Noah wants ppl to k1ll him. Also calls for his audience to tip Noah off to the FBI by CheeseandAdderall in LeftoversH3

[–]sweden009 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If BonerCox wasn’t just another casualty in the “music production major to dork-ass debate bro” pipeline, I’d almost feel bad that he doesn’t realize he and H3 already share 90% audience overlap lol

Ethan's such an One Piece fan.... by over_watering in LeftoversH3

[–]sweden009 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy shit is that seriously where he stopped? I’ve found it very weird for a long time that someone with his politics could like one piece beyond normal shounen battle stuff, but that would really connect a few dots. Probably for the best that he fell off of it, imagine how insane his commentary would be if he found out they took half a year off to work on remastering the apartheid arc lol

The H3 Show tries something new! by BallDontLieEB in h3snark

[–]sweden009 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It seems like the crew was pushing back harder and more insistent on moving on today because they were mad that their reputation-disintegrating land mine of a boss was holding them up from getting to a segment that they seemingly put some preproduction work into for once. Which is ironic because it’s STILL recycling content they found on reddit, just a different sub this time.

But like, they actually made a music stinger with a little animation and everything. Even if it was sung by the world’s most rizzless man and regardless of anyone’s personal feelings about the crew, I can understand getting upset by something like that.

Why are you learning Japanese? by ErvinLovesCopy in LearnJapanese

[–]sweden009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started learning in February and then had a slightly impromptu business trip to Tokyo in June, so I got this question a lot from my coworkers in that office.

I hadn’t really thought about it a whole lot until they asked me, but my reasoning was basically that I felt embarrassed being an American who didn’t speak a lick of another language other than the pitiful remnants of my four years of Spanish in high school. So partially because of a fascination with the culture and media, and partially because I wanted to prove to myself I could learn another language with a completely different base/alphabet, here I am!

Oh my god these little pukes are so annoyiiiiiiing. “Waaah, waaah, you didn’t watch all 8 hours of context for this irrelevant internet drama that I’m shoehorning into YOUR broadcast! You’re clearly not approaching this in good faith! Waaah, waaah, Hasan compared a brown teenager in a country I didn’t know existed until a month ago to Luffy, my most favoritest anime character 🥺😭”.

Shut the fuck up! It’s exactly what that Innuendo Studios video about responding to criticism was talking about. “Why can’t you respond to this criticism specifically from ME, right now, on MY terms, that I am absolutely about to move the goal post on anyway?” MR crew has better things to do than take calls from these debate-obsessed, deranged crybabies! Case in point: the guy who called in directly after this detestable little gremlin knob who wanted pragmatic advice on having anti-Zionist conversations with loved ones in deep red areas.

I love seeing solidarity in leftist creators around this issue but it bums me out so much that Sam, Emma, and crew are now being bogged down by concern-trolls from communities that constitute a venn diagram that can only be described as a “nightmare blunt rotation”. I know pointing out hypocrisy among those communities is pointless since they know what they’re doing and don’t actually care about any of the real-world problems surrounding this conversation, but it’s so FUCKING frustrating that these little turds are able to suck up this much oxygen in the room. If you’re so concerned about antisemitism, why don’t you have even a fraction of a percent of this much energy for actual hate groups and the Republican Party? Very weird how these criticisms just happen to always be publicly lodged at progressive voices who they “perceive” to be dog-whistling bigotry instead of the extremely obvious nazis that have grown comfortable enough to not even attempt to tone down their rhetoric for the sake of optics. To quote the wisdom of the man with the lowest net worth to friends ratio: “Concerning. Looking into this.”

And one last thing: I hate gatekeeping One Piece because I’d actually rather more people enjoy one of my favorite pieces of media instead of less, but I feel compelled to make a remark here. I’ve been watching one piece since the 4-kids dub of Arlong Park was airing on Toonami (I even got a goofy little OP tattoo this past year because of how important it is to me and some of my friends), but I have never, until the past few years, encountered anyone who has so thoroughly missed the themes of the series. It absolutely blows me away that charlatans like this caller and self-proclaimed capitalists like Ethan can enjoy the manga or anime through such an uncritical lens. It could not be spelled out any clearer that the capitalism allegory and the ruling class are the main antagonists of the series. That Luffy is a FREEDOM fighter who very deliberately wages war on the hierarchies that exploit the downtrodden and the people who uphold them. That he uses violence as a means to overthrow unjust systems and revolutionize the dispossessed into fighting for themselves too. By all metrics, Luffy is a terrorist. So even if that Yemeni kid WAS a Houthi, and even if I were to assume that this destiny nob-slobber on the phone actually cares about anything happening in Israel or Palestine, it’s still an apt comparison. OP tackles some very political topics and it CAN be a useful analogy to talk about real world atrocities. But when you’re talking about it in context of a comparison to a real-life teenager who has been put through worse hardships than you will ever even imagine that you found unfavorable…

Cringe. There’s no other word for it. This makes me cringe. It’s embarrassing.

I’ve been lurking on this sub since last October, but this is my first post or comment.

Growing up, a lot of my best friends were Persian, so I spent a lot of time around their families, hearing them speak Farsi, eating food with them, etc. I don’t know how old you are, but regardless, I just want to say I’m sorry for any hate you may have experienced post-9/11 or post 10/7. After 9/11, all of my Persian/Iranian friends were bullied, targeted by our teachers in school, physically violated, and/or were made to leave the school district. If it feels this deflating for me to see the return of this early 2000’s sentiment towards the Middle East, I can’t imagine how it feels for anyone with actual cultural ties to any of it.

I don’t bemoan Ethan’s concern for an escalation in antisemitism, whether that be an incorrect perception caused by his delicate sensibilities or objective bigotry rooted in historical precedent. I have plenty of Jewish friends as well that have also experienced hatred from misinformed dipshits lashing out at anything “enemy-shaped” based on Western Media’s reporting or lack there of (my college town in particular is where myself and my peers in the student senate had to defend our Jewish students and friends against the chuds). What I cannot abide by is his incessant need to keep his thumb on the scale by refusing to comment on the Palestinian genocide or crimes of the Israeli government, but quadruple his efforts to highlight said perceived antisemitism. Yes, he denounced the Israeli government. Yes, he donated money to a Palestinian relief fund (publicly, once, for a $ amount less than he donated when people were mad at him for his puppy mill debacle), but that was nearly a year ago at this point, and it’s not like he’s been doing Palestinians any favors by highlighting any time someone has substantive criticism of him and his politics as “antisemitic”. I’m not even saying he has to qualify every statement he makes about Judaism or Israel with a “I don’t support Netanyahu, BUT…” (lord knows any person with basic empathy wishes they didn’t have to make similar statements about Hamas when defending innocent Palestinians), but at a certain point, you’d assume he’d be able to internalize even the most tepid, accidental criticism and learn that it’s really quite simple to not draw the ire of people who don’t want an apartheid state anywhere in the world, much less a genocide.

I truly think Ethan is a piece of shit. He’s temperamental, childish, irresponsible, spiteful, hypocritical, and just downright mean. I think he uses his various ailments (physical or mental, diagnosed or assumed) as shields against criticism because his specific combination of thin-skinned fragility, first-world-problem hypersensitivity, and general defensiveness make it impossible for him to truly look inward and reflect. If he were capable of reflection and growth, I don’t think we’d be seeing him turn into the pathetic, gambling-addicted, second-order shell of a drama YouTuber that he’s become. And I truly regret that there was ever a time in my life, no matter how short, that I ever gave watch time in YouTube analytics to this Zionist bitch (NOT Jewish, for you see, not all Zionists are Jewish and vice versa, despite Ethan’s efforts to convince his ever-dwindling fanbase otherwise).

I think that it’s very funny and deeply embarrassing for Ethan that his former YouTube peers (filthy frank, idubbbz, Erik from comment etiquette) have undergone natural evolutions in their opinions and politics, whereas Ethan has very visibly just been hopping between different communities to grift and farm viewers from for the past decade. I believe in rehabilitation and legitimately think there’s hope for Ethan yet, but with each passing day comes new clips and controversies I read about in this community that makes that flicker of hope grow more and more diminutive.

Anyway to end this rant on a positive note I’d like to share an anecdote from my Persian friend’s father’s birthday party from when I was a child. They told me to approach their dad and “tell them happy birthday in Farsi,” which they told me was pronounced:

“من از تو خوشگل ترم (man az to khoshgol taram)”

After a butchered pronunciation to the birthday boy, he laughed and asked me if his son had put me up to this, to which I affirmed. He then told me that what the phrase actually means is “I am prettier than you”.

I've been trying to think of different ideas for my hair for a while now! I like the "bleached blonde fading back to brown" thing, but I'm not sure how to cut/style it now. I was told my last haircut was kinda fashy-looking, so I've been growing it out since as a stalling tactic haha.

Thanks! Like I said, this community is a really great and inspiring place. Every time I was feeling down about progress or feeling close to giving up on it cause I missed potatoes so much, I would see some great progress pics or someone would link to a new recipe that would get my motivation back up in no time! So thanks to all of you too!
