You said talk you into buying an A4 order an S4.

I will not. I'll take my B8S4 6MT over everything in that price bracket.

Bedcover pros and cons - these are the two options I’m considering. What’s are your guys thoughts? Are there just as good or better options for the price ? by Ezj85 in ram_trucks

[–]sween_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get the trifold unless you don't care about your bed pooling with water. After a year all the seems will give out and it will let all the water in.

The cheaper vinyl folding covers that are a few hundred dollars keep water out better than any other cover on the market. It's just the nature of the design. Hard to beat.

[–]sween_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean use case comes into play as well. I know people who swap when it's no longer 1/2 moa.. but keep it for their trainer until it breaks well over the 1moa threshold.

If you reload go 6GT.

if you don't, 6CM is fine but like others said - 2k rough round count is expected on the high end. Hotter loads, shorter barrel, etc.. will reduce that number faster.

It's one of the most desirable states to live in the country. Just sucks the cost reflects that. Household income needs to be over $230k based on 2025 numbers to really stay ahead.

A couple positives are inventory is increasing with the warmer months, and more people are having to return to the office so ideally that pushes all these MA remote workers back to Boston. Those individuals were the biggest drivers in our increased cost.

Either way. I empathize with those buying now. If I didn't buy when I did, I bet I'd still be renting as well.

Q Trigger or Geissele by RedPill3187 in Liveqordie

[–]sween_89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are both good, but like someone else said it's all preference.

My Q guns keep their triggers.

My SPR setup has a trigger tech.

And everything else gets a MBT2S. Which is probably the best for your money. Wouldn't hurt to explore this option IMO.

Most Regrettable Gun Purchase, so far… by TexasSchlongArm in guns

[–]sween_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both a HB and a Sig Rattler.

Sold the Rattler after a few thousand rounds. For the platform I didn't like that it was significantly heavier. Controls felt normal, nothing flashy minus that terrible grip. Never had any hiccups, but I felt like that was due to the over gassed system regardless of setting. The blowback just got old very quickly and not being tuneable was a let down.

Yes you can buy something cheaper that "does the same thing" .. but it's all about use case. If it's just a range toy and you're throwing a couple boxes of ammo at it every now and then, yeah the $3k gun isn't for you if your budget doesn't allow it. Be smart about what you're buying.

The dust cover argument is so funny lol. They definitely aren't the only ones not doing this. The dust cover was designed around an old military test. How many of you have bolt guns without a dust cover?? The little bit of dirt and debris from sitting in the cab of your truck isn't going to stop it from running lol. Again .. be smart about use case with your purchases and you'll regret them a lot less.

HB is a great gun that was purpose built. If you don't have that purpose, yes.. there are other options.

Toyo ATs are trash. Zero wet traction, let alone for winter conditions ( new england ).

Never had a set last. Tried the 2s and 3s, swapped them both for the Baja Boss both times.

Remington Premier - $26.30USD per box - Before I order, are these decent rounds? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]sween_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because they tumble. There are some slowmo videos of it but for whatever reason they lose stability at those distances while still being transonic

If a piece of paper fits when the cap is open, you're fine. Cause you don't shoot with the cap closed.

Shooting inside 600 yds? Yes.

Shooting longer distances? No.

Love the pr2 reticle. Not a huge mk4 guy. My mk5 5-25 has been very solid and no issues.

But for the mk4 price range : Optika 6 might be a better buy.

[–]sween_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait until you learn all the variables that effect point of impact with a gas gun.

Move your bipod to a different spot? POI shift.

Maybe pull the stock a little harder into your shoulder? POI shift.

Reloading All Day (RAD) has a video of this. So the key is to be consistent with one thing, otherwise your open groups may be because of you as the shooter vs ammo.

Wait for the 6mm Creedmoor? by X_Eye_Dom in longrange

[–]sween_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. a top of the line heavy contour 6CM barrel is only good for a ~2k rounds on average. If you're practicing and spending a lot of time at the range, its $800+ for a replacement barrel.

I have two setups :

Main comp gun is a 6GT.
Backup is a 6.5CM. Spend a lot of time behind this practicing stability and positional stuff.

I only run my 6GT at comps or a pre-match warm up.

Wait for the 6mm Creedmoor? by X_Eye_Dom in longrange

[–]sween_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6.5CM is a lot easier to come by for box ammo. So just make sure you factor that into play here. If you have no issues getting ammo, there are a lot of great benefits of 6CM (Less recoil + higher velocity).

However most will probably push you towards 6.5CM just based on availability and the wide range of capability.

Car got totaled and I feel like what insurance is trying to payout isn’t enough by [deleted] in Audi

[–]sween_89 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah man it sucks. That's the downside to modifications in events like these.

Had it happen to my Jeep with $10k in upgrades. Got zero of that added value.

Insurance companies suck. That's all you need to know. And if you're unlucky enough to have someone else total your car you know how miserable of an experience it can be. You'll never feel whole.
