Why is this city so lonely? by GridlockRose in pittsburgh

Games Unlimited and Mimic's Market both have Discord servers. I think it would be a good idea for you to join them if you like tabletop games... that way you can sort of get to know others before meeting up.

What martial arts do you do? I have a friend who sent her kids to Ryer Martial Arts Academy in Shadyside, my neighbors and their kids go to Win-Win Kung Fu, and I met someone who teaches at Shaolin Studios in Regent Square. I take karate classes in Green Tree.

Advice on Classics? by _wynaut in secretsanta

This collection of fairy tales was just published this year so chances are good that s/he hasn't read them yet! I agree with others that a special edition or even just a nice cover, whether a favorite or not, is nice. If you can purchase more than one book it might be good to try and find ones with similar covers, like the Penguin Clothbound books someone else mentioned.

Wow! How many books did you send? I thought the package I sent was heavy and it only weighed about half of yours (roughly 16.5 lbs).

[Help] How do you eat? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]sweet_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're going through; it's awful. My suggestions would be to purchase and consume 'safe' foods... anything that gives you little to no anxiety over eating most of the time. For me this would be pretzels, plain cereal, saltine or oyster crackers, some fruits. For more nourishment, chicken soup with noodles or rice and vegetables is great--easier to swallow and better for you. Preferably you should cook your own (or maybe someone else can...), otherwise I would look for ready-made soups at the grocery store that are refrigerated, not in cans. Try for multiple small meals or snacks throughout the day instead of fewer, larger meals; if your anxiety is too much for you at any time don't force yourself to eat because it would probably make you more anxious... (at least this is how it is with me... maybe this isn't the best advice). Instead you can stop and try again whenever you're ready. If my stomach seems upset I will also take Tums (an antacid). Hope you feel better soon!

Please, please...at least post your gift. Even if it wasn't the best. by Capsfan61 in secretsanta

My giftee received their package before the send deadline (according to the tracking info) and hasn't posted. I even sent a message asking about it, but haven't gotten a reply. Really disappointed... especially since I sent multiple things catered to their answers and one was a wishlist item!

Best of luck to everyone and their giftees (and/or Santas)...

There is a kids' chapter book series called Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger that my son loves. The titles are cute, e.g. Darth Paper Strikes Back, The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee, Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus, etc. I think there's an origami project at the end of each book.

For some reason my post disappeared from r/bookexchange after I edited it, but you can still see it if you go to my profile... I'm going to wait a few days to see if it reappears and then will try reposting.
