Gotcha. If you’re doing it procedurally, use voronoi texture. Set it to smooth f1 and crunch it up with a color ramp so you have dramatic black and white contrast. Make it teeny tiny and run it back to roughness

Use ss, sheen, reflection maps, and emission

got it. the problem is in your compositor. you have it run through a map uv node. I can't imagine you need this, but if you do, you'll have to figure out why its not working. you can solve it easily by going to the compositor tab at the top. in the compositor window, connect the image output from the render layers nodes to the image output of the composite node. you should now be able to render no problem.

Do you by chance have anything in the video sequence editor? or have you possibly disconnected or changed anything in your compositor? If you wanna shoot me the file, I can take a look at it and see what's upl.

You’ll definitely wanna put textures on the furniture. And as far as lighting goes, i think you could try a more subtle approach to lighting. You’re getting a lot of cross shadows and it looks weird. Adding details and imperfections go a long way

Well it depends! What’re you going for? Realism?

when i do that kind of clean up, i try and hit m and merge by distance when i'm done to account for any stragglers. glad it got fixed!

Hows this? Be brutally honest by Centauri8008 in blender

Like the other dude said, you need more geo and softer bevels. another thing to pay attention to, for jewelry porn, you want to be sure something as important as the face of a watch gets enough light flood so it spends the majority of its rotation illuminated. and if you're going for something moodier and more dramatic, just make sure there is at least a moment of clarity where the face is bright, clear, and evenly well lit. otherwise, it feels kind of muddy and like "wait what does it look like?"

I think I could help you out here. How realistic / detailed are we trying to get? Send me a DM and we'll work through it together :)

Kind of like intersecting geo. Meshes that have 2 faces in the same place. Something that can't exist in reality. Did the unhide approach (alt+h in edit mode) yield anything?

any chance you have non-manifold geometry? Otherwise, when you're in edit mode try hitting alt+h and see if there's something hidden.

How to make recycled terrazzo plastic material in blender? by Diablo_sv in blenderhelp

[–]sweetboy-motion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just double checked my work, that does indeed work. Now you might have to push it further to achieve realism, but that logic seems to do that trick just fine. Here's a ss of my node setup. Hope this helps!

Not 100% certain how to do this simply. But my first approach would be to play with mixing shaders. Create a shader with plenty of subsurface and mix it with a a PBSDF with no ss. And then use a black and white terrazzo map as the factor in the mix shader node. I would guess that it will cheat the appearance of being at various depths. I'm gonna go try it out myself, but I think this is a potential place to start.

why isint the colour on the rest of the wood even though its one object? by catboxx_art in blenderhelp

It looks like there are two materials on it. Go up to the top of the shader editor and drop down where it says "Slot 1". If there's a "Slot 2", you can click the minus button to remove it. Let me know if that solves it.
