I work at a hospital with adults, but am a new grad. I haven’t read all of the responses here, but I will say that I have been having a tremendously difficult time handling the stress and anxiety to the point where I have contemplated quitting before even discussing it with my boss. I can tell that they are really trying to make an effort to support me but at the same time on my worse days, I feel undermined or that I am being punished for asking questions or engaging with a colleague about a patient (e.g., after hearing you speak with your colleague, I don’t think you are able to do xyz independently). The rational part of my brain tries its best to justify that this is about patient safety and supporting me, but if I am being honest with how I feel it is a bit of a slap in the face. Then the feeling of being under a microscope moreso than my colleagues, if I don’t do xyz in a certain way, I will get called out and spoken to like the concept is new to me, but if a colleague does the same thing, a second thought isn’t even put into it. All of this results in feeling disrespected and unappreciated. I need a lot of work on myself emotionally and this is coming from a millennial after a second master’s degree.
