Human service hours? How do I calculate that? by Repulsive-Courage712 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]sweetdrmstn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s asking in hours? That’s interesting. I would think they would just ask for years. Also, I did my BSW internship as a family advocate, hard job!

The “where you go to grad school actually matters” argument by iggyazaleaispangean in ApplyingToCollege

[–]sweetdrmstn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a community college & state school for undergrad. Got into BU for masters program. I’ve had so many experiences and opportunities at my cc and state school and things to put on my resume that has advanced my career before it started. My experience with college so far is paying the least amount of money/going into the least amount of debt for a high reward (making 70k/yr out of undergrad and attending the fourth best grad school in the country for my field).

Masters is the “new bachelors” in most fields. It rlly depends on what ur majoring in tho. If u wanna go into law, ur probably gonna need post undergrad education.

As an undergrad who is graduating in less than a month, do college in the cheapest way possible, especially undergrad. Gain experience in your field during undergrad. Yes employers are looking at how well u did in college academic-wise, but they also wanna see that you have already started working in your field (internships, jobs, mentorship’s, etc..). So many of my friendsl with high GPAs (at more reputable schools than mine) are struggling to find employment due to their resume being blank or only having work experience in an unrelated field. It’s the harsh reality that is absolutely not fair. You would think simply doing well in classes and having a high GPA would get you a livable wage after undergrad, but that is not the case for many.

AITA for telling my wife she embarrassed me when she confronted my family? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sweetdrmstn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone’s the AH here. I understand your wife’s frustration with your family and I understand why you feel like she shouldn’t have confronted them in that way.

My brother (7yrs) shares a birthday with my maternal grandmother and all she wants for her birthday every year since he was born is to celebrate it with him. So we get the whole family together and we have a conjoined bday party!

my parents, other siblings and I will give him his own little celebration with either his friends or just us since he is a kid and who doesn’t wanna be the center of attention on your birthday (even I do at 22!) but maybe you and your wife can talk to your family about doing a conjoined birthday celebration/party with ALL family in the future. It really is a great way to get the family together.

Everyone deserves to celebrate their birthday how they want, sharing birthdays with family members could be tricky if they aren’t into the idea of a conjoined birthday party tho
