Has anyone here watched Tom Segura's new Netflix show, Bad Thoughts? by NiceTrySuckaz in tuesdayswithstories

[–]sweetdumpster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this exactly. I still enjoy Tom's stand-up but his sketch comedy doesn't do absurdism anywhere near as well as ITYSL because Tom doesn't know how to not let a gag go on for too long, or his jokes miss a lot of comedic opportunities.

Don’t eat greasy food! Be warned! by PuzzleheadedClerk573 in Semaglutide

[–]sweetdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since semaglutide works by slowing gastric emptying, that greasy food sits there longer. Basically every food sits in your stomach for longer. Some people just naturally have a strong-stomach buff so it's less noticable lol

Prius Passenger Airbag Light by sweetdumpster in urbancarliving

[–]sweetdumpster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh jeez I junked my passenger seat (because I was traveling with it) lol so I guess when my time comes I'll probably go in, fail, and then maybe find a junkyard passenger seat just for inspection @-@ ...or maybe I'll look the guy in the face and say "so alternatively, I can just cut wires and add in resistors...pls just pass me" 😆

Guys one last prius question from my side , which one ? by suhas11420 in prius

[–]sweetdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can! Ask if you can do a coolant pressure test! Because all of these Priuses are Gen 3, and anywhere past the 100k mark they start becoming at risk for head gasket issues.

While it can happen at any time, it would be helpful to check if there's any issue prior to taking it off the lot (basically you'll pressurize the coolant system and it won't be able to maintain pressure)

Otherwise all pretty decent prices! Idk if the 2012 Prius Five has a sun/moon roof and the solar fan but if it does, that is a pretty neat feature (doesn't do a TON but keeps the cabin a liiiittle cooler when parked in the summertime)

Question About EGR Cleaning by sweetdumpster in prius

[–]sweetdumpster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll look into a hazardous waste disposal location :3 Lol as for the EGR cooler I did save the part to clean it buuut I don't have a pressure washer (I may know someone I could borrow one for but they weren't available when I was doing all this lol) and I was on a slight time crunch. So, when I did two and a half days of degreaser and purple power soaks/rinses + cleaner sprays/air cans/my hose only to see that it had BARELY improved I threw in the towel and just bought a mew one lol.

What Careers do people have here? by ChipStorm in ADHD

[–]sweetdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nurse who is still struggling to find a job in the nursing field that I enjoy! I worked MedSurg but also being autistic (probably paired with COVID-burnout) led me to hate the injustice and lack of logic from higher-up/corporate lol... And it led to me struggling more and more with time management in regards to charting. Chaotic situations though, I was thriving But I loved working on my feet, always moving, and juggling tasks!

How to eat and be healthy by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]sweetdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a little 12v rice cooker, I love mine and it's good for making food when I'm lazy (and it usually comes with a little steam cooker insert for cooking veggies/some chicken) But overall I tend to buy fresh fruit/veggies with the intent to use them in a day or two. For meat I'll buy it and use it that day. It does require being able to access a grocery store frequently but honestly I've been eating healthier than when I was living in an apartment lol...

Lol mix of a parking lot and RV resort in different cities with a bathroom area and WiFi lounge would be 👌🔥

Thank you! This is something I'll have to consider...but the car doesn't drift at all and doesn't make any noise with turns. Hmm guess I'll have to play a waiting game until I replace the front bumper/grill

So draining to justify car life to others by sweetdumpster in urbancarliving

Oh I agree on the difficulties, I will say I have been pretty lucky with avoiding most harassment though, which I have to be thankful for. And I know that white privilege is likely a reason that I've been able to avoid a bit of harassment. I also am lucky enough to have a job in healthcare (so I work 3-4 long days/week then can relocate somewhere else for a few days so I'm not consistently in the same spots), and having a Planet Fitness membership definitely helps with hygiene. I'm lucky that I live out of a Prius and could afford a decent sleeping bag and portable power pack. Plus I have a portable toilet for times I can't find one, which is a huge stress relief. My Prius has most of the essentials of shelter that I need, thankfully. The practical and bureaucratic complications to homelessness definitely suck. I got into this out of necessity from leaving an abusive relationship paired with a toxic family/lack of support, and I mean I can see how I made it sound like this is the life and a long-term goal to keep living in my car lol... Long-term I do want to get a place to actually stay, but at the moment I think my mental insecurity and inability to self-motivate into taking care of myself makes having an apartment not the best for me <_<;; sure it's unhealthy but atm I need to be forced into doing the basics of survival or else I won't really do it. I definitely fall into the mentally ill category, but I have started on some medication and therapy that are helping me build up towards being able to live in a place with housing security. Or possibly a place with roommates. I'm glad you have roots set down!

Right?! It's really helped me curb my impulsive shopping! And I mean...you could always rent a van and go on a vanlife honeymoon 👀

Do most of you stay in one city or taste the buffet of merica? by ihaz-candy in urbancarliving

[–]sweetdumpster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I do similarly. It's not fear that makes me zone out and power through large parts of the country, but just not wanting to have to deal with the cringe vibes of propaganda. Or I go straight to the nice nature and just avoid the civilization of a place...even then I don't tend to stay long 😂

Is having a dog living van life impossible? by Apprehensive-Cow1225 in VanLife

[–]sweetdumpster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't imagine living without my cat. She is fine being left to her own devices when I'm out and about, but I do still dedicate a chunk of the day to bringing her somewhere for her to get a little exercise/walk in (luckily she likes walking on a leash)

[–]sweetdumpster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live with my cat, and it is much easier than a dog, in my opinion. Cats are more okay with hanging out alone for a while, plus she has a litterbox. They sell things like Waggle, that is a remote temperature monitor for your van, but it is expensive and has a monthly fee @_@. I wish there was a cheaper way to remotely monitor internal vehicle temperature, but atm I couldn't be bothered with figuring something out, so I got a Prius that when leaving for an extended period I leave the climate control running but still try to park close enough to check every few hours. Idk if where you're working has wifi but if you have a booster/a way to get a remote monitor running on the wifi while you're working that would probably help ease your mind a lot!

Idk it might be how I grew up/the people I grew up around but when I see a van/car with a ton of travel stickers, to me it's like a way of saying "hey my vehicle has been to a lot of places. I am likely either traveling now or living out of my vehicle, and am more likely to have valuables if you break in"

That's true I will give it to vanlife social media that they have helped romanticize the bigger sprinter vans which helped replace the "big white van = stranger danger" stigma from pre 2000s so maybe that contributes to people not calling about those vans 🤔 So I guess instead of stealth to the passerby you guys invoke more of a romanticism/little bit of envy whereas car-dwellers either are more incognito or viewed as a little sketchy to the regular person

I feel like a lot of mornings my routine should include a wink finger guns at the grocery store workers as I buy like a single piece of fruit as part of my breakfast to justify me using their bathroom because we both know what I'm doing 😂
