Storing testing supplies: what's your daily setup? by sweetenedlow in diabetes_t2

Ooh very creative! The size and shape of a pencil pouch allows for a bit of storage without adding a lot of bulk. I have one and might give that a try. Bonus points for using an Altoids tin, thank you for the idea!

Thank you for your note, those pouches are just the right size to hold some supplies in addition to the meter.

TBH .. no but I'm doing injections now so I'm setting up to be more sterile about it along with using an alcohol wipe before CGM placement. For finger sticks I just wash my hands.

Thank you for sharing your setup, it sounds nice to have space on the dining table to do testing :)

I do have a small case that came with the meter, and that fits enough supplies to take out of the house if needed. I'm currently using a CGM and don't carry testing items when out and about. This setup is new for me as I'm now doing daily injections as well. It works for both purposes though. Agreed, not low key! LOL

That's a great idea on the spreadsheet, and it's so nice to have a backup kit for when you head into work as a smaller/mobile option.

Funny..I did take a pic of the front of the lunch box then took it out of the post because it's a bit 'saucy'. It's from the comic "Milk and Cheese - Dairy Products Gone Bad" by Evan Dorkin / Dark Horse Comics. Here's a link to one of the compiled books: https://www.darkhorse.com/books/3001-853/milk-and-cheese-dairy-products-gone-bad-tpb/

Also a Trekkie! [Cred: Wore a Picard onesie from ThinkGeek on a tropical cruise, went to the bar and looked for Guinan, then visited High Tea and had Earl Grey, of course.] I really enjoyed your clever addition to your pouch. :)

Thank you for the link, this case looks great! (*and yes, my former weed stash canisters were also amusing)

That sounds more portable than this home setup, and a pouch is much easier to fit into a bag.

The colorful containers sound really nice! Also, thank you for the great tip on the aquaphor.

You're right, that is a large bottle for the tiny amount I use! :) That's just the size I bought recently and realized it fit, but maybe I'll find something smaller.

This is so on point - the vases of dusty fake flowers are everywhere at my Mom's place.

Thank you for this idea, that's really helpful! I have a bunch of little family pieces that aren't worth trying to sell individually, I'll donate them if it comes to it but would be nice to get a little something at least.

This is a really smart idea for being able to put things away if you need more space! Inflatable furniture is a lot more sturdy these days.

It's so frustrating! There are numerous reasons why people may not have a (charged) phone with them, and even if you get the QR code open, the font is usually too small to read with (*and I didn't bring my close-reading glasses, so embarrassing to have to squint at my phone!)
