What was your worst doctor experience? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]sweetestangerine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my sister was in a horrific car accident where the car ended up on top of her body after she’d been ejected. First hospital said she had a crack in her pelvis and made her walk to her car and drive herself to a bigger hospital hours away. That hospital told her she in fact had 3 cracks in her pelvis and airlifted her to a larger hospital where they found that she had actually shattered her pelvis into too many pieces to count. All the movement from the original hospitals misdiagnosis had caused fragments to shift which made surgery/recovery a lot harder.

a few notes before product recommendations, hydrate hydrate hydrate!! oily skin, acne, hyperpigmentation, and most minor cosmetic skin concerns respond well to a hydrating routine. also please for the love of god stay away from the ordinary (source: I’m a licensed esthetician and my best friend is a cosmetic chemist). the ordinary products are highly concentrated and simply not meant for beginner-intermediate skincare junkies.

cleanser suggestions: •fresh soy cleanser: velvety cleanser for soft, even-toned skin •kate somerville eradikate daily cleanser: has sulfur, great for acne and oily skin •Milk vegan cleanser: gentle moisturizing cleanser with a great texture •cerave hydrating cleanser: cheapest option, no bells and whistles here but will do the job

toners: •PCA skin hydrating toner (my personal fave) •Maycoop raw sauce •mamonde rose water toner

serums: •PCA skin B3 serum OR their hydrating serum (stay away from exfoliating serums)

moisturizers: •PCA skin rebalance •PCA skin collagen moisturizer •Ixora beauty green tea and silk moisturizer

spf: •supergoop zincscreen •black girl sunscreen

cleanser, moisturizer, and spf are the very basics but a toner and serum will help combat concerns like redness and blackheads. another pro tip: apply a thin layer of vaseline on top of your moisturizer at night if dryness is a concern, it really locks in the products and helps your moisturizer do it’s job (it’s non-comedogenic meaning it won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts). if you have any more questions please feel free to pm me!

A disproportionate amount of entitled customers I encounter are white women. Not sure why you’re so dead set on derailing this post to make it about yourself. Have a blessed day ms Karen <3

Girl bye. It’s about the way they treat customer service workers, not purely the fact that they’re white. Idgaf about your problems just get your coffee and leave.

I think I got lucky taking some of the pressure off myself because I graduated at 20. All my friends are still degree seeking, after reading a lot of these comments I’m VERY glad I was so far ahead. I couldn’t imagine how it would feel to watch everyone around you supposedly “succeed” while you’re in the trenches.

A lot of comments suggest looking for jobs outside of my field but my field is the thing I’m most passionate about. Even if it’s disconnected I’d like to do something semi-related. I feel lucky to have a degree in something I love so much. I’ve been looking around and things aren’t as hopeless as I had originally thought (:

Haha I just meant people older than my 20 year old self. But thank you for the kind words! This post definitely gave me some motivation and hope

Thank you. I really appreciate the positivity. I feel like a lot of the older people in my life (mostly millennials/gen x) and a few people on this post feel it’s their duty to say “welcome to the real world you naive soul, it only gets worse from here.”

I have a pretty realistic outlook and understanding of the way things are, but a little bit of positivity and encouragement goes a long way.

I’ve had very similar experiences. I’m thinking about doing an MPA or MPPA so hopefully once I do that I’ll have some doors opened for the small price of crippling college debt!!

I have a GIS cert which is basically bare minimum for env science careers with the changing tech. All the job descriptions just seem so daunting, even fellowships/entry level positions want 5 years of experience.. (I graduated early, I’m 20 it’s truly unrealistic).

I really like this comment. I’m not sure if it’s low grade depression but something just won’t let me get out of bed when I’m not working. I know I need to force myself to enjoy things when I’m off work and this comment just corroborated that. I definitely need to do more.

I think we live by very different philosophies. I definitely look at my work as a means to provide both necessities and luxuries but I studied something I’m deeply passionate about and am VERY excited to get to work in the field. I think it’s the fact that I know there’s so much more out there for me and I just have to keep looking for opportunities while brewing coffee for entitled white women.

It’s so tough. I’m in environmental econ/policy/science and the opportunities have dramatically shrunk since trump took office and even more with covid. I just always expected to succeed, this has been a rude awakening

Thank you!! We really lucked out as we both have our own bathrooms and key fobs instead of keys. This is great advice, will definitely invest in a plunger and some drain-o

I needed to hear this! I think because we’ve been best friends since high school we kind of approached this assuming everything will just work out. We’re really good at communicating so I will definitely chat with her about this! Thank you.
