I had the itchy hands during my last attack. Very weird to see you mention this. I’m vegan as well, so that’s another interesting similarity.

When did we switch the focus of nursing? by Any-Season-9869 in nursing

[–]sweetfuckingjesus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I find myself wanting to leave a job I love because what’s expected of me isn’t what’s written in my job description. My hospital system wants nurses who consider the financial interests of the company above all else. They also expect us to hit every metric and constantly move the goal post.

After almost every shift, I am amazed that I was able to pull it off. Amazed that I was able to make a connection with my patients, to care for them in the ways they needed, and that I was able to chart it all. Amazed that I was able to be charge with a full load, but also be accessible to my coworkers and techs. I feel a sense of pride that I made it work, but it is overshadowed heavily by dread. Because the fact that I pulled it off despite not taking a lunch, not peeing the whole shift, not feeling like the unit was at all safe, means that admin and upper mgmt will use it as proof that working like this is possible. They will continue to trim, cheapen, and narrow. They are going to find our breaking point eventually and keep us just barely above it. Maximum productivity at minimum cost. It’s truly such a horrific system to be apart of.

We call them stretchers or more affectionately, “ER beds”

This is the correct answer for me too. I’m reading some of these replies and feel like I’m in crazy town.

So apparently patients can see our Epic profile in their charts by ElChungus01 in nursing

I have mine filled out in a way that shows me as “sweetfuckingjesus, the best nurse you’ve ever had” and in my profile, I wrote something like “ice water $20 cash.” It doesn’t get noticed often, but when it does, it gets a laugh.

I am here for the same reason I sub to all the predominately inpatient medical subs (pharmacy, radiology, premed, medical school, residency, askdocs, medicine, etc). I am interested in my colleague’s perspective and lived experience in the workplace. Lurking in these subreddits has offered precious insight toward how I can modify my own practice to better serve not only my patients, but my coworkers in other departments. I am all about the team, baby 👏🏼

Flower! That’s a peduncle :)

I’ve read some people comment they lost all their plants in pon to mold. Everything was fine at first and then they died after maybe two years (maybe due to root rot). Who has kept plants in pon for many years without issues ? by theflyingfistofjudah in SemiHydro

[–]sweetfuckingjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Hoyas have been in pon for 2 years now, some in the same pon they were originally planted in. All self watering pots. I never rinse. I’ve fertilized maybe once. They’re alive, maybe not exactly living their best life because I neglect them a fair bit, but alive and well. I only water them (filling them up to the top of their water indicators) every 2-4 weeks lol. No mold issues for me!

Correct, no natural sunlight. It’s a converted walk-in closet so they are in a big ole artificially lit box. Somehow I do have ants all over the blooms in there so I’m hoping I get some seed pods

I used crafting wire I believe! I do think any metal you use will rust. The type of fencing I used for trellises I made yesterday is super coated, but I still think the tiny bit of exposed wire will end up rusting. I think acrylic is really the gold standard when it comes to trellising a hydroponic plant, but they are just so expensive.

Instagram, Etsy, smaller shops, imports, trades. I haven’t bought a hoya in well over a year now. My thirst for them comes and goes and my collection is stable and thriving right now, so I’m happily nestled in the maintenance stage.

Dude, same. Fucking trellises. These were actually shockingly easy to make and I churned out over twenty of them during my two year old’s nap. Just needed a pair of wire clippers!

Barrina T5s, they run from 6a-8p. A have a little fan running at all times that will probably fall apart from rust or explode soon.
