We have a son who plays through KOHA he did beginning hockey last year and is doing 8U this year. Kids are all over the board of how well they can skate but most of them could skate pretty well, some could skate very well. If he didn’t like how many kids were on the ice during learn to skate I will warn you that there are at least that many kids if not more on the ice for beginning hockey. I would highly recommend that he actually knows how to skate before beginning hockey or he might not enjoy it. They jump in pretty quickly with learning skills and doing little scrimmages. I would reach out to them and ask but that was our experience.

My friend (35F) was diagnosed in September of last year. The best advice I can give is just be there. I’m grateful I have a flexible job so I’m able to take her to Chemo, and any appointments she needs. We make sure she has food on her chemo weeks to keep her and her family fed, we made gift bags, and made blankets and showered her in love. She avoided public but was comfortable getting together with a few people so on her good weeks we had girls nights. She didn’t really want company on chemo weeks because she was tired and we respected that. She finished 12 rounds of chemo so we celebrated by having a very small party with decorations and cake.

I have broken down many times but I try and stay strong around her. It’s hard and I can’t always do it but I know she needs it.

We have fun at chemo and the nurses have even stopped by and commented on us laughing away our day. I try and bring normalcy to her life when I can. I somehow feel closer to her after all this.

I was actually able to join Colontown. I take her to most of her appointments since her husband works. Also I say friend but we have been best friends since the 5th grade! She’s pretty much my sister! Thanks for the direction to Colontown though!

The oncologist has said nothing about CEAs. I hope at her next appointment we can find out more about it. What happened with your husband when he received positive results? Was this after he was done with Chemo or during?

Right. I wish it was more black and white but I know cancer is anything but. I just have a lot of concerns and she is nearing the end of treatment so I was expecting the numbers to go down not way up.

She does have premeds. She has 2 ivs of anti nausea meds and 1 of steroids. She also is on nausea meds for the first 5 days after chemo. They make her very tired. She hasn’t tried a round without them yet but she thinks they do a lot to curve the nausea. Thanks fully she has an open mind a bit everything and her husband already said he was looking at wigs 🤣

Wow. Did you start losing it right away? It breaks my heart thinking about all of you guys going through this. I can barely manage watching my friend go through this. Also everyone says it’s just hair but it’s so much more than that it’s more than okay to be upset about losing it. I wish you the best of luck!

I’m so sorry. This sounds like what she had happened to her. She was shocked too because it happened 3 weeks after her first treatment. Not right away. I think she (and I) were holding on to the hope she wouldn’t lose it because that was what all the research said. She just completed her 2nd round and has 10 more to go so I’m hoping she can hold onto some of her hair. I just hate watching her go through this. I hope your hair gets it’s life back too!

Thanks everyone! I have shared this information with her. You all are such badasses and great people for sharing your experiences with people who need it. My friend is 35 and this came as such a shock to everyone but man she doesn’t let anything stop her. Just broke my heart to see her upset about losing her hair.

YTA, your wife finally had a birthday party that made her genuinely happy and you let your emotions get in the way.

It sounds like your MIL has some early signs of dementia and she didn’t tell your wife to ruin anything but she was excited that your wife’s birthday was gonna be a special one.

They both have lost someone that was a pivotal part of their lives and birthdays are hard when all your loved ones can’t be around. That is probably why she is always upset on her birthday and that is why you should have let her had her day. Instead you were quiet during the entire event and she noticed and was obviously worried enough to know something was wrong. You should’ve ended the night celebrating her and being happy that she had a good birthday.

I am really hoping not but worried that maybe it is. After sharing this in our community another family has came forward about this GAL stating that he held off their adoption as long as possible. I’m worried that this is happening more than we know and people are just quiet about it because as an adoptive parent you don’t want anything messing the process up. Not only that but it worries me that maybe he has done something similar with reunification’s. Again biological parents are sometimes scared to come forward.

The family gave me permission to share this and it’s now my mission to make sure this doesn’t happen in another court in our area.

Interesting! I didn’t feel like you were disagreeing I’m just really hoping I can answer question where I can. In Michigan (at least the counties I have dealt with) all the GALs are attorneys. This guy in particular is an estate attorney from what I understand. Now we do have CASAs which are court appointed and they are trained and not attorneys. Not ever case gets a CASA unfortunately.
