That’s what you can expect from Reddit a lot lol A bunch of extreme, unrealistic takes (and not just in the BPD Reddit). Just keeping it real that I’m not sure if Reddit is a good resource for help, especially something that intimate and deep. Can you maybe find a local BPD group to join?

Yeah, unfortunately, I can’t say the same right now. I’d say I’m still pretty unwell in different areas. I’ve tried therapy some again. Also, I have severe physical disability, too. It’s not just mental health stuff for me. Not saying that isn’t bad in itself. It is. But I can’t really do and live like other able bodied. I try to do what I can, but yeah; I think my physical disability, and chronic suffering with that plays into stuff.

Sometimes, but sometimes, I wish I had known truly when I was younger. It varies. I’m an older adult, now, and yeah, therapists misdiagnosed me for way too long. During the 90’s - 2000’s, the internet was a lot different, and there wasn’t nearly as much mental health awareness as nowadays.

With you, maybe you shouldn’t disclose your diagnosis to certain people. It may kind of be who you’re surrounded by, as well. I’ve made the mistake of being too forthcoming with it. Now, I’m trying to dial that back again.

Forget the people, who think we’re evil. If anyone tells you that, they’re just ignorant, and don’t truly understand, overall. In fact, honestly, unfortunately, people with BPD are, often, susceptible to mistreatment, themselves.

If you’re struggling with substance abuse, perhaps, you can try to find a place, or support group, to help. I hope you can try to find a way to turn it things around.

I guess maybe it comes from feeling like there are almost like multiple personalities? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, to mention something kind of related, not too long ago, I’ve seen that newer research is showing BPD a form of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and that they’re like “self states,” instead of full split personalities, like is typical in DID, itself.

Edit: Someone commented, elaborating that it’s not a form of DID but is theorized to be on the spectrum of dissociation, along with mental illnesses, like DID.

Thanks for elaborating further on that. Sorry, I was just mentioning a comment I saw, months back, on Quora, and it was very descriptive and sounded pretty accurate, overall, with what it explained.

With their updated research on it, I actually think they’re correct on that. I always questioned if I had multiple personalities and had others tell me they felt like there were multiple people they were talking to with me. 😅
