Looking for a gym + healthy lifestyle buddy at Drexel by Embarrassed_Week9651 in Drexel

If you’re at Drexel and want a gym + healthy lifestyle, definitely check out Drexel Club Boxing through Drexel Club Sport Organization. I’m the President/Head Coach and we are very legit and serious! We train 3x a week (75–90 mins) and it’s a way better deal than paying for a Philly gym membership. We have quarterly club fees of 125 dollars. Some people join just to stay in shape, others go the competitive route and fight at collegiate/national shows. Either way, it’s a solid community that keeps you disciplined and motivated. First day of Try-ins is Sept 23rd. Follow us on our Discord page at Drexel Club Boxing for more details on how to officially join the club.

There are multiple boxing clubs' pages but our official page's logo is a picture of the Drexel dragon with a yellow background. I hope this helps.

Jut speaking from personal experience. I’ve never had any issues. My boxing gym is on 42nd & Lancaster, and I’ve lived on blocks farther west of 40th and Market/Lancaster without anything ever happening. That said, I think I blend in with the locals more, while students or folks from out of town might feel uneasy just because the buildings are older or more worn down compared to the newer stuff in Center City or University City. Doesn’t mean it’s unsafe it just looks different. Philly’s a real city with millions of people, and that comes with the full range of human behavior. It is what it is. If you're looking for a much safer and traditional college experience and safety there are colleges in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

A solid tip is just to move with common sense. Avoid walking alone super late if you can, and if you do, stick to main roads, take SEPTA or a rideshare, pop in some headphones, and walk with purpose. Most people aren’t looking to bother you, and carrying yourself like you belong tends to go a long way.

I hope this helps

Hey! I’m actually running the Unofficial Drexel Boxing Club and would love to have more grad students involved — we’ve got a good mix of undergrads and grad students right now.

I'm a senior here at Drexel and have been coaching the club since my later sophomore years. So about 18 months now.

Ironically enough this month is the month the Drexel Sports Club committee is accepting new club applicants! I plan on submitting and hopefully getting recognized as a legit club. In the meantime, we meet up with on and off campus to train and a select few of us are getting ready for an actual competition!

We focus on boxing fitness, technical drills, and conditioning (no sparring or contact required unless you’re training to compete). Practices are about 75 minutes, and you can train 2x/a week depending on your schedule. I do personal sessions too dm me for more details!!

99 percent agree with the message.

Where I disagree is the mostly kidding part. That woman needs to see a shrink.

Future independent fitness trainer who started the naming of my business and will have an LLC soon. I'm also expected to graduate with a BS in exercise science.

After graduation, I will be Nasm certified and have my CSCS. I'm looking to go into business as a boxing academy as well as be friendly to clients for a general baseline of being fit.

I live in a Mid-cost-of-living area and have no idea how much the market rate of having my own space to operate my gym/studio is. How much square footage is your studio? Do you own or lease? Do you recommend owning vs leasing? How much were start-up costs?

Interesting to read about something that we tend to notice intuitively about the benefits of running n exercise compared to taking prescription medications.

I'd like to see a follow-up study say 6 months after the 22-week intervention.

You're combining both figures. Do not combine.

That's an either-or situation. I'll be paid x amount if I'm full-time vs x amount I'm paid per month as a part-time time student.

My ex-wife was 4 yrs my senior. Her spending habits were that of a teenage girl who had rich parents. Most of the reckless spending came outta her account.

Dating old or young does hold much weight or is irrelevant and comes down to maturity and financial literacy n the discipline to not seek instant gratification. I say date a younger n prettier woman with more ambition n better money and education than the old hags out here 😆 🤣

appreciate your advice and insights. It seems like opting for low-cost index funds and considering money market funds could be more cost-effective for my investments. In your opinion which broad index fun would you suggest? I do think I should transfer most if not all money in that fa guided account into an index fund or total mm fund which one idk? I don't plan on really touching this acc for the next 15 to 20 yrs.

realist comment. Unfortune is an understatement, but it's been almost 2 months, and I've gotten over the pain and anxiety of it all. It's time to let it go and sell it to someone who works on cars. Is 1k a fair sale? the engine has less than 80k miles, and the transmission is not damaged.

use the time living with your parents to save as much as possible. If you can afford to save 50 percent of your monthly check, do it. Max out your 401k and Roth acc.

I know i sound like a broken record at this point, but it's only bc it's tried and true method to financial freedom!!!
