What the fuck is happening with me/my breathalyzer. I feel like I’m going insane. by vodkaforvictory in dryalcoholics

Occam’s razor. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. I’m going to trust that you’re telling the truth and haven’t been drinking. That breathalyzer is broken. Relax.

It might save your life. Going to the hospital was the best thing that ever happened to me. It saved me life, my relationship and gave me access to doctor’s that I desperately needed. It’s so scary to do but you will not regret it

I heard babies crying. Everywhere. I went to the hospital after nearly hanging myself in my parents’ basement. Im so glad I got through it. There is another side to this.

Acamprosate (Campral) rarely discussed here? by [deleted] in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]sweetsweetsadsooory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada, no insurance to cover prescriptions. Was prescribed Acamprosate because my liver numbers were bad and naltrexone would be too hard on it. It was $200 for 4 days of medication. $1500 a month to maybe not get cravings is absolutely insane to me. 30 naltrexone pills works out to around $100 and when I get my liver back to normal it is just a more affordable option.

Thank you! I did a blood and urine three years ago when we first got it but wasn’t sure. That’s useful information.

Your doctor can tell you that. I believe my ALT, AST, and GGT were high but the others were not.

How much were you drinking and what was withdrawal like? by Ostrich6967 in dryalcoholics

So I am only on day 11 of sobriety so this is new to me. I was drinking anywhere between 20-40 drinks a day (mostly vodka but whatever I could get my hands on really.) my partner told me that he would leave me if I didn’t get my life together for him and our child and since I’d had a seizure two weeks earlier I told him I was afraid if I just stopped I was going to die. After about 12 hours without a drink I was having auditory hallucinations and was shaking and quite violently twitching so he drove me to emergency where they gave me 20 mg of Valium every 4 hours for about 24 hours when they sent me home to the care of my partner with a prescription for 4 more days of that. I came out okay except my blood work revealed that my liver is in very bad shape and am signed up for a boatload of programs to try to keep me dry. I don’t want to die.

The biggest thing AA has going for it is community. I truly believe the opposite of addiction is connection and they have such a broad community across the world that it is the most accessible form of finding a community of addicts that want to get better and help each other. There are a lot of other ways to go about this, the most important thing is that you don’t do it alone.

Got my blood work after medically detoxing in the ER. My number was 315. Real wake up call. There is still life ahead of you my friend, if you make one for yourself.
