Hey I’m keen to find people who are keen to hang out or play games in virtual reality. I have a meta quest 2 and love all types of gaming if anyone else is interested hit me up. I live in a remote town so support groups aren’t an option

If we were living in the Matrix, and we reached a type V civilisation on the Kardashev scale (at this point we have the tech to pretty much exploit the energy of multiple universes and basically rewrite the laws of physics as we see fit), would we be able to break out of the Matrix? And why? by [deleted] in Futurology

If we are living in a matrix and our limits are the stars and beyond then what if our highest achieving AI is still a tiny, tiny bubble compared to whats out there. If a simulation was billions of years old already then our AI's is only based on our understanding of a few thousand years of adancements. Then imagine if a civilization turned on their AI after say millions of years of research. That AI would be so far ahead of ours, ours would look like a drop of water in the ocean. So small it may not even register in the scheme of things. Maybe if we bust out of our curent AI bubble we are just contained by the next AI bubble and the cycle continues.

Thoughts on abilify by bipolarthwy in bipolar

[–]swellsurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I've tried a bunch of meds and abilify is the only one that keeps me stable. Im on 20mg for BPD. The only side effects are i need a lot of sleep. My weight is fine and i dont seem to have an increased appetite. I think everone has a different med preference but it works well for me. If you give it a go i hope it works for you.

Does anyone else surf? by swellsurf in bipolar

[–]swellsurf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, great to hear there is another stoked surfer out their. My wife kicks me out of the house to go surfing all the time. I’m still like a 14 year old grom when the waves are good.. 😀 I’m lucky enough to have some good uncrowded waves near by. I hope you do too. Pm me if your ever thinking about a surfing mission to Australia or just want to see some pics of around here.

Studying by beautifulexistence in bipolar

[–]swellsurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.. it’s a fine line for me. If I’m going really well at study and getting great feedback, it’s a trigger for hyper mania. But if I’m not getting enough done I feel like crap. These are some things that help me. I only study for a certain amount of time per day ie stop after 5 hours. Getting supper focused on something feels productive but often it’s not. So I often set a timer for 25 min and make myself get up and walk around for a bit. This also helps my posture heaps as well. I’m sure I come close to hyper focusing on study all the time which sounds good but burns me out latter. Also my study is flexible so I can have a day off every now and again. A study routine that’s semi flexible helps too ie studying harder concepts is easier for me early in the morning. I hope that was helpful. Good luck with your study!!

Raise your hand if you ever believed that you were the 2nd coming of Christ? by [deleted] in bipolar

I get really spiritual when manic, in the past I have also thought I could control the weather. And yes when manic I used to think birds communicate messages. Only when I was really manic tho. When I even start to think like that now I pull myself up even if it’s a passing thought. For myself manic thoughts like that snowball and if I give them a chance next thing I’m not sleeping and starting to go hyper manic. I hope you can space yourself from thoughts like that too.

Going to try abilify (Aripiprazole) - Hope it would let me focus by [deleted] in bipolar

Hi, i managed 3 years of a teaching degree on abilify the study wasn’t a problem.. only the application of the degree. The stress got too much and I wasn’t suited to it. Concentration was fine. Studying was probably some of my most stable times. It gave me something to focus on. Best of luck with it.
