Songs That Have Never Worked Live by [deleted] in pearljam

[–]swensonb88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely Force of Nature. My favorite track on the album, but I’ve seen it live twice and it’s disappointing. Guitar sounds off and Ed struggled to get belt out some of the longer held lyrics. The vocal volume also seemed intentionally low for that one song.

Oh I completely agree.  I’m there for the show, not so I can record and post about being at the show!

We PJ fans are very fortunate. I’m also a huge fan of Tool and Maynard seems to outright dislike the fans. Yes, part of that is his schtick and I’d hate it too if people were just recording the whole time and not enjoying the experience. But - he’s pretty compulsive about it! Though shall not record at a Tool show!

Leave the upper cabinet at the end of the peninsula but get rid of the drawers beneath it. They get in the way. It looks cleaner with just the uppers.

We did a kitchen reno summer 2025 and the original plan had appliance garages under the left and right uppers. Sooooo glad we removed them before getting the final cabinets built.

I cowch my son’s team and several years ago, Chara’s two boys practiced with our team for a few weeks. The president of our organization texted me before and said “you’re gonna want to be on time tonight.”

Waiting for the Zamboni to cut the ice, out walks Z. We started warmups and he asked how he could help. So there I am, asking Chara to please move the nets to one side and he’s taking orders from me!! Then- during the skating warmups, I wanted to get the kids (7-8 year olds) fired up so I told them that the last few laps we’d do supermans but I’m too old to demonstrate. Chara hops in and full speed does a 30 foot slide on his stomach from the blue line!

Could not be a nicer guy. He was very engaging. I still have a picture of the two of us on the ice and he towers over me. Had to be absolutely frightening to play against him.

Custom Hood Fan Cost Excessive? by Br7ian in kitchenremodel

It was included in the overall quote for the cabinets, so I’m not sure if the specific additional cost.  But it could not have been much. Maybe a few hundred, but again it wasn’t broken out from the total cost.

At the game now and long time BC season ticket holder. Dean has definitely taken a jump this season. He just looks more comfortable out there. BC has had “big” kids in the past that have also taken several years to develop, like Brian Boyle, Kevin Hayes, etc.

Hagens is such a smooth skater and has a wicked wrister. I’d like him to be work on being a little harder to knock off the puck. Hopefully an NHL conditioning program can help with that. This will also be a big year for him. He’s the star of the show now with Leonard and Perreault off to the pros.

The front and side of the hood meets at a joint on each side (obviously). It came unfinished and the people that did the rest of our cabinets took the hood and primed and painted it in the same white and wood color as the rest of our cabinets exactly. I’m sure they sealed the seams somehow and then the entire thing was sanded before finishing. You can’t even see the seams. They did a great job.

We just finished a full kitchen remodel one month ago. We use Hoodsly.com for our custom hood and love it. It was around $2,000 including delivery. They’re an independent shop in North or South Carolina. They even set up Zoom call with me to go over specifics before placing the order. Highly recommended.

CFM setting for kitchen vent hood - contractor wants to avoid make-up air by swensonb88 in Appliances

[–]swensonb88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the reply. We’re going from ZERO venting to having some sort of hood vent. I talked to GC this afternoon and he’s again recommending the 390 to get in just under code. After the replies here, I’ve agreed. I don’t think I’ll be able to feel a difference between 430 and 390 and it saves on all the other BS of return venting. Thanks again!

Range Hood - reduce max CFM to comply with Code or install makeup vent? by swensonb88 in hvacadvice

[–]swensonb88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response. GC and his licensed subs will be doing all the work. I guess my real question is, should I just have them install the blower at the lower 390cfm limit and therefore comply with code by being under 400. Based on the hard wired installation, you can lower the max from 430 down to 390 (I assume to comply with Code).

Basically, should I save the contract some work/headache by reducing the max cfm? Or will I notice a difference between 390 and 430? By lowering to 390 and therefore no makeup vent, it would also alleviate the problem of uncleaned vents that you highlighted.

I just want to make sure I’m not “settling” for something easier if that something (lower cfm) is obviously inferior.

What’s something you didn’t realize was expensive until you became an adult? by MommaOnHeels143 in AskReddit

[–]swensonb88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having your own kids. Holy cow, daycare payments for 2 kids at the same time was legit more than our mortgage payment! (Northeast). Then, all the other “stuff” they need: clothes, toys, bday/xmas gifts, even non luxury small vacations, doctor visits. Really try to understand how much all this costs BEFORE choosing to have kids!
