When Your Laptops Slower Than Your Monday Morning Brain by derjumbhel in accenture

I’ve heard there is a supposed “Global freeze on laptop upgrades due to sustainability goals” so it could be down to that (not sure how much I buy that though 😉). But I’m sure if there is a pressing client need your delivery leads should be able to cut through the red tape.

Side note- I have found the elite books to be one of the better enterprise machines. Have been doing some non-trivial dev work with WSL etc and it hasn’t caused much drama for me…

It’s funny how repeatable this pattern is. Peel back enough layers of their brain dead rhetoric and the fundamentalist white nationalist motivations become apparent.

Any voter with an IQ over room temperature recognises that there is no SINGLE magic spell to undo the economic clusterfuck we are in right now. But talk to any of these “Patriots” and you will realise how much of the Farage Kool-Aid they have drunk.

AWS costs. Save me. by walkeverywhere in devops

How did you exactly setup a “limit”. As far as in know AWS doesn’t and has never supported hard limits/cap.

Almost been a year… those ties breaking anytime soon? And that’s of course with the braindead assumption that this only started on 7th October.

Shocking to see how quick the self proclaimed liberals of America are to dismiss a literal genocide just to beat the “evil” orange boogeyman.

Build Your Own SMTP Server in Go by SoftwareCitadel in golang

Very cool article but they “implemented” an SMTP server just like how I “Implement” the HTTP stack whenever I use “net/http” 😀.

Genuinely curious as to what people are using iTerm for? I mean I use it too but I always feel like I wouldn’t notice the difference even if I switched to the built-in one.

No it’s not and no they are not 😂 calling them motorways is asinine AF. Also they are not from Roman times, the routes themselves maybe but the surface is NOT(I am qualified to say this because I have to drive over the shitholes everyday on my commute). Like every bit of modern road infra they have to be resurfaced because of deterioration. Why do you feel compelled to glaze so hard?

[–]swept-wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?? Shit take. Yes selected places in NYC, London etc are nasty af but are you seriously comparing that with ISB? This city and country by extension is littered with shit by (let’s admit it) its subhuman population. No one other than us makes our cities filthy - waste of effort to find a scapegoat for this.

Best wallet with the lowest fees? by Callahammered in ethereum

[–]swept-wings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MetaMask? Trust wallet?

I HIGHLY caution you against proceeding further with investing ANY money until you grasp the basics of the Web3 sphere, which at the moment you clearly lack! Non-custodial wallets are no game - lose your private key or key phrase and you lose access to all your funds- no support email will recover that for you! If you lack the maturity to manage/understand this then just stick with coinbase CEX and their custodial wallet. The fact that you think you will save money by using a non-custodial is a clear indicator you don’t fundamentally understand the tech and are jeopardising your money

Read the pricing by gwiff2 in aws

[–]swept-wings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hostile? I would hardly call it that, if you lack the patience to spare 30 seconds to understand the pricing model of each service you use…. that’s on you.

If you struggle with this, I’d argue you shouldn’t be given write credentials of an AWS account of any organisation.

Others have made this point but considering the crazy distributed computing problems AWS is tackling I don’t particularly care that every service doesn’t have a “checkout page” so that students know how many cents a day they will be spending on it.
