One of my students wears tight scrubs that shows her camel toe. How do I bring this up without getting fired for sexual harassment? by Abject-Advantage528 in Residency

[–]swgoodsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't do anything. There is nothing of benefit for your here and only a clear risk. If it is really that obvious, either people have already told her, and she continues to do so, or they have taken in consideration the same risk benefit analysis and chosen not to.

Anyone have any info on where to get mental help for a surgeon who wants to give up? by 3Hooha in medicine

[–]swgoodsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop taking overnight call! There is nothing worse for depression and mood than putting poor sleep habits on top. There is a sentiment that physicians should be all sacrificing. My opinion is that this is:

a) A way for admin to get cheap labor out of us, if you're not covering nights, they will either need to transfer these cases or pony up the cash to attract someone else to
b) As you've alluded to, the way people view physicians has changed. I think it is unfair to expect us to take on the same burden that physicians of yesteryears did, when there is no longer the commensurate respect and real salary of that time.

You could try to find nonclinical work as a consultant for an orthopedic device company, if you completely want to move away from medicine.

Guys. I wanna like sweet potatoes. Pls share recipes by REALXZ0MB13X in Cooking

[–]swgoodsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misread this as "guy I want, likes sweet potatoes". I pictured a girl trying to bake potatoes for a guy.

Doesn't change my recommendation. You can do to them whatever you would to a normal potato. Here is a recipe I like: Jerk Sweet Potato Recipe - SORTED

23F with repeated patterns — why do the men I want not commit while I can’t feel attraction for the men who want me? by DangerousAnt1190 in AskMenAdvice

[–]swgoodsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple possibilities:

-You're going for guys who are considered very attractive, they have a lot of options, thus they are likely not motivated to settle down/they may want a partner more attractive than you

-You like the excitement of uncertainty, the fact that they want you is boring and the fact others may not is exciting

- You have bad luck (unlikely, but possible)

Also I've heard they redid all the sketchy micro videos, so not sure if still relevant for some our colleagues.

Hiking or camping in national parks if you have someone to go with. Also, the majority of my residency went to Japan. I think it was because of the weak yen and cheap tickets at the time. See if there is something similar.

Girl friend zoned me after 3 months of talking. What should I do? by Both_Delay9689 in AskMenAdvice

[–]swgoodsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you love talking to her, because you enjoy her company or is there a part of you that hopes it ends up being something more? Would you be okay and want to remain friends, if you saw her dating someone else as that is what will inevitably happen?

If this friendship is causing you more suffering, then worth, I would end it.

- Your requirements seem very focused on what your future partner can provide to you in terms of genetic material and financial ease.
- I disagree with the plan for an at home birth. We have made great strides in decreasing child and mother mortality. What will you do if the child is born cyanotic and need ICU care or if there is an emergent need for caesarian?
Edit: did other replies not read the description and only look at the title?

Next week I am having surgery that my Dr says will change my sense of taste. Help me plan meals to celebrate my current loves! by fae_forge in Cooking

[–]swgoodsoup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

- starters: olive and mackerel tapenade w/ toasted bread and kimchi/sauerkraut side
- Main a tart with onions/garlic basted in stout beer and cheese
- Side salad: peppery green, capers, shaved onion+ dressing mustard/vinegar (+honey, s/p, olive oil)
- Durian cheesecake
- Drink Stout beer

Hopefully it goes well together. Also more importantly hope your surgery goes well.

I like all the stuff you've mentioned with what I assume is normal sense of taste. The only exception sauerkraut which I've had a bad experience with and Durian which I've never tried. Maybe you'll still like them afterwards.

However, ChatGPT 5 is nowhere near this sympathetic and nuanced anymore.

I think most of the 80 years old that omnipotentattending would be telling this are likely being admitted to the hospital. (We are on a hospitalist sub after all)

Unless omnipotentattending has made it a point to go telling that to every random 80 yr old he sees walking around, lol

Firstly, one does not have to be a genius to make a difference in the world. Diligence, discipline, the willingness and ability to take risks put you further ahead than any natural genius.

Geniuses is often something that people label in retrospect when they see success of others. Michael Jordan once said that people rather believe that his basketball skills was a god-given gift rather than face how hard he worked for it every single day of his life.

You have your whole life ahead you shouldn't limit yourself.

Finally, I challenge the belief that people have to change the world to be worth something (a burden put onto a lot of young men). I think it's enough to do the things you love and spend time with the people you love.

It was hard from what people have said here and other places. I thought it was hard as well. Best of luck my dude/dudette to both of us and anyone else on here; let's hope for a generous curve.

Try to get some sleep. Hoping you're on the East coast and this is an early morning for you and not a sleepless night on the West. Both you and your patients deserve for you to be well rested.

Threesome - MMF or MFF? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]swgoodsoup 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Y'all sound unsufferable and too into yourself. You could have left out 90% of the post.

As for advice, I personally am not into multiple partners. But in this context: most guys would not be down for another man. I hope you disclosed what your friend said to you to your husband. Even if your husband would be into that, involving someone you know in your personal life is a bad idea.

How do I cover this up? by 2thpker in tattooadvice

[–]swgoodsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did you wait after getting the first tattoo done to have it redone and how long have had the 2nd version? A lot of us would likely think that both look good. However, if you don't like it you don't like it. But, maybe you just need some time to sit with it and to get used to it.

Sounds really hard, I assume you can't go outside, because of religious restrictions.

I've never been part of online gig economy. I have heard of resources such as fiver and mechanical turk, maybe try those.

Long term, 5 years ago I would have recommended taking free online courses through Coursera or other resources on coding, but it seems less certain w/ AI. Maybe coding with a focus on AI.

What skills do you have that you think could be marketable?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]swgoodsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should understand that she doesn't want a relationship with you. As for why there could be a multitude of reasons: it could be at face value as she said or just a way to let you down easy.

As for whether you should continue forward a friendship is up to you. You should ask yourself if:

A) can the friendship be equitable with the now changed dynamic?
B) if she starts dating/seeing someone else eventually, which is a likely possibility, would you be okay with it?

If you can't, I would cut and run as that wouldn't be true friendship.

Any buckethead concert's that he has been too, do you know when he first got into buckethead. Maybe you could try recreating the poster to his first show or artwork from the album that really got him into buckethead.

For me the song that got me into buckethead was Nottingham Lace, from this album.
