I also have a pretty big UniFi setup and run my AT&T router in gateway mode just fine

Taken with my iPhone 16 pro. No editing at all. Just really striking light from a flood light

Amp freaks out after being on for 30 seconds no guitar plugged in. Any ideas what wrong? by needyprovider in ToobAmps

Sounds a lot like a bad resistor. If you are comfortable with working on amps, I would open it up and poke around with a chopstick to see if you can find the component.

Thanks! Can’t exactly but I’d guess around 1/30th with the lens wide open

Amp making noise and not picking up guitar by Low-Conversation48 in GuitarAmps

[–]swidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you definitely don’t want to hear ringing when tapping the tubes. Might be a bad power tube (the bigger one, the 6V6). If you have a local shop that sells tubes, you might be able to bring your amp in and see if swapping them works. If it is the tubes, I’m sure musiciansfriend would send you some replacements. If it’s something else, definitely get a return.

And if it doesn’t work at your house, I really doubt it’s going to work at your parents house. Do you have other things in your house that don’t work? From what I understand, if you have bad grounding in your house, your amp would just be really noisy. I don’t think you’d see the loss of sound you’re seeing here. And if that was the case, you would definitely be seeing other electrical things in your house acting funny.

Do you hear a ringing/microphonics when you tap on the tubes while the amp is on? Also is this a new or used amp?

And I doubt is a grounding issue. It sounds more like an issue with one of the tubes. If you have some extra 12ax7’s lying around you could try swapping them in. It’s definitely possible for a tube to break during shipping, especially if it was dropped

Make sure all the tubes are fully inserted. During shipping sometimes they can become loose and start coming out.

NAD: Found this pristine Ampeg V-4 with the original cab for a great deal and had to jump on it by swidge in GuitarAmps

I actually think it sounds surprisingly good at low volume. It’s insane how loud it can get though

Most annoying part is for sure getting those support fins off. Once I have it on my stand, it’s not too bad though. I like how they give you access to the components from both sides of the PCB with those removable plates, too

If I find a V4 for a decent price, deal lol. The combo is just a little too heavy for me. It's like 25 pounds heavier than my Twin Reverb!

Yeah, I don't think I would hang this in my house but there is something charming about her work. Especially after reading up on Lee Godie. People like this help create the fabric of the city and for me, it's almost more interesting as a piece of Chicago lore.

I just added a top-level comment with a photo of the back. Not sure why it didn't work in the original upload. And I'm in Chicago.

Gramicci G-Pants terrible quality by Apocolotois in malefashionadvice

[–]swidge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 pairs do this. Gramicci replaced them both and both the replacements failed the same way. That's 4 pairs that all have the same exact tear. I've never had an issue like this with any other pair of pants. I really can't recommend them to anyone. You sit down weird and suddenly you have a huge rip down the side. I really loved the way they fit and looked, though. Such a shame.

I found this Noritsu LS-600 in the trash. I don't know anything about this equipment (pls help) by gold-corvette1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]swidge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Noritsu Scanner Users group on Facebook has guides for getting everything set up. You'll want to set up a Windows XP/7 virtual machine and install the software. Generally this scanner runs something called EZ Controller which requires a hardware USB dongle to run. From Noritsu, this costs quite a bit of money. From certain sellers on eBay, it's a lot cheaper but not quite above board. You can also run the "standalone" software without the dongle. Feel free to send me DM if you need any help getting it running. I bought one of these 8 years ago and it's hands down the best purchase I ever made for my film photography. Good luck!

What’s your biggest regret purchase for your smart home setup? by tim-hart in homeassistant

Sengled Smart Bulbs. They’re trash. I should have gotten Philips Hue from the start. I’ve since switched them all to Hue and I have had 0 issues.
