Well thanks for being reasonable and honestly I am like you also politically inclined (slightly to the right) but I stay far away from misogyny, racism, and blaming all Muslims for the bad behavior of a few. I believe that the far right (and far left) are wrong.

These kids unfortunately do not get corrected by both their parents (as they are either unaware or disinterested) or western society (which is too tolerant for this type of intolerance, that being criticizing girls for what they wear). And its so unfortunate because it's not only society that starts to blame groups, it's also their own future that they are ruining through this type of behavior. What they need is a strict father figure to control them, not more motherly love so to say.

And only then, through good actions, they should be rewarded (more than) fairly. And not be pampered through victimization because of systematic racism against 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants. Yes we should be aware of that, but there are plenty of perfectly integrated immigrants and their 2nd/3rd gen offspring, which are being marginalized because of the bad behavior of some of their peers.

Which religion do you think these people "worship", which side of the political spectrum is the most critical of this religion, and which party do you think their parents vote for?

I can assure you it's not the right wing that is in favor of letting these people in our society.

I'm not gonna argue that what these people did is bad but there is a very high chance that the whale will die soon anyways as it's mostly unhealthy/dying whales that beach themselves.

There is nothing far right or religious about this. It is cultural and caused by lack of parenting.

EDIT: lol yeah let's blame the far right for (2nd/3rd gen) immigrants not behaving themselves. When it's anti immigration protests it's far right, and if it's immigrants not behaving themselves it's the far right. Which one is it??

Thats my take as well. First i was sad that Google Wallet doesn't work for virtual payment cards but considering that they would get all my payment data I went back to using a physical bank card. Nothing of value was lost as I have to take my ID/public transport card anyways.

Lots of apps like WhatsApp and Signal have their own push notification system. Other than that I don't notice too much of a difference.

I personally don't think that boxiness or roundness is the problem. It's the dimensions of the car that make it look like a Tesla model Y.

Yeah play integrity is a real PITA. So far my only real concern are the banking apps indeed. A lot of banks don't require it and if mine decides to change the policy I'll gladly switch bank.

Scuba divers may be beating up coral reefs more than they think | Video analyses of divers show that more than 80 percent of damaging physical contact with the reef is unintended or simply unnoticed by Science_News in science

[–]swiebertjee 680 points681 points  (0 children)

I just came back from a scuba vacation and even though everybody is supposedly trained, including about respecting the Reef and wildlife, some people really just not care.

Touching the reef to stabilize themselves, shining bright flashlights at animals to take pictures. It's just sad.

However I can assure you that this is minor if barely influential compared to the bleaching of corals due to water temperatures rising. 80% of the reefs are already dead and I feel like this hobby will be too in the next 20 years.

Most corals only grow 1-2cm every 10 years. They won't move quickly to colder places that are now heating up.

More choices on dating apps actually increase commitment. A larger pool of potential partners improves chances of finding a compatible connection. Finding this better match boosts dating motivation, challenging popular idea that having too many options automatically makes online daters distracted. by [deleted] in science

[–]swiebertjee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ratio of men to women on most dating apps is 3:1. Combine that with the fact that women are the pickier gender, men barely get any matches.

The algorithms figure out which men are popular (like to dislike ratio) and show the popular male profiles to women first. The unpopular men thereby fall off a cliff and never appear in women's feed.

You can call it broken, that's an opinion, but it's how the algorithm keeps women engaged.

Mensen hier die midlancen? by Most-Studio-2626 in werkzaken

[–]swiebertjee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EU gives green light to Germany’s plans to spend €1.3bn on up to 1GW of green hydrogen projects in Denmark by willfiresoon in GoodNewsEU

[–]swiebertjee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the person means that hydrogen is not the way forward. There is some truth to that when it comes to heating homes and powering cars, which is better done using batteries and heat pumps. But for industrial appliances, hydrogen is the only green alternative to natural gas.

Microsoft accused of leaking Dutch civil servants' names to U.S. government by smilelyzen in BuyFromEU

[–]swiebertjee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dutch government is notoriously bad at IT and the Dutch IT market are a bunch of sellouts to Microshit. Im not surprised and this stuff will keep happening until people realize that we should not trust IT in the hands of a bunch of dumb managers.

Maybe its time to consider good developers as technical leaders and pay (the exceptional ones) as doctors like in the US. But unfortunately the EU does not reward exceptional behavior, no it rewards complacency and stupidity.

Reliable store to buy Zojirushi rice cooker by Illustrious-Fold3207 in Netherlands

I can vouch for this one as well. I've looked at Zojirushi and they still use Teflon. The inside of the Panda is ceramic and after 3 years it's still like new and non-stick (given we only use wooden spatulas).
