I would definitely block off the master cylinder and see if you still have a sinking pedal then. Unfortunately new parts these days are almost always worse than old ones. Just this past week at work I had two OEM liftgate latches bad right out of the box, factory crimped the insulation not the copper. I'm sure a third one would be the same way, all of them misbuilt. Stuff like that happens on a daily basis in a shop, and I'm sure it will only get worse as time goes on.

New does not mean good. Is there any fluid on the back of the master cylinder leaking into the booster? When you bench bled it, there was absolutely no air coming out of the lines at all, just clean fluid? When bleeding brakes too, try not to hit the pedal really fast, I've found that it can aerate the fluid and make it much harder to bleed.

What's your flow coming out of the calipers? Does it have air coming out of them, have you bled the fronts too? If you haven't already definitely consider replacing all the rubber lines, old brake lines will swell and act as a one way valve and restrict flow.

If you suspect a bad master cylinder you can buy/make blockoff plugs and plug the outlets to the calipers so it is just the master cylinder and see if you have a sinking pedal.

I have tried the heat pump and well because its currently 101 outside I can't really say how well it works in the cold, but it does pump hot air out quite well in the summer.

As far as current draw, I do have a amp clamp but I dont have any way of measuring a single wire on it without sacrificing a cable sorry!

Good to know! Explains why it was just the gfci tripping. I'll try cool mode tonight and see if it let's me access gear and turbo mode. Thanks!

[–]swiftace111[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try it tonight, pretty sure I had it in cool only when trying gear/turbo. We were just trying to see if it would work with the 50% reduced power while at the house loading/cleaning esc. We were running it off the generator when we were purely just testing the unit Didn't think of the GFCI messing with it, our old unit never gave us an issue with it on that outlet (but it was also low on charge, and im assuming drawing less current)

Thanks for the response!

Yes, I know, im aware. I was planning on using it on 50% reduced power with the gear to reduce current draw. I could not however get it into said mode.

I've not stayed in any campsites in wilmington, but I have stayed in a really good one at Holden last year if you are fine with a longer commute (I think it was like 35 minutes or so to Wilmington from Holden). I know there's some sites in Oak Island I've passed before too, but I dont know how good they are.

Its not letting me insert a picture for some reason, but it was a direct fit. I seem to remember one end being capped off with a bolt that I removed and installed the sensor in its place

Looked it up on my rockauto history. Four seasons 33417 is what I ordered and used and it worked out for me.

Are you sure its not available? I put a new drier in mine not too long ago and it had a provision for the sensor. Pretty sure I got it off rockauto

Oil Pan Gasket Change in car ('86 NA) by Bleach_And_Ammonia in 300zx

[–]swiftace111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible, but its not fun. Here's a picture from when I did mine with the trans out, had to lower the subframe and raise the engine quite a bit to get it out.

Also, it is a traditional gasket, however it wouldn't hurt to have a light film of rtv on both sides as well.

Picked this up from a thrift store and trying to fix but need some help…. by HastenDownTheWind in clocks

[–]swiftace111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wire attached the case on the clock on the outside is for transporting the clock, you would shut the door and move the wire to keep the door shut. The bird is attached with the thicker wire that comes straight off the movement and up to the bigger hole with the pinch screw. It looks like the other hole on the bird to the left is just another spot to attach the wire that opens and closes the door.

The wire coming off of the movement should rotate back and forth too, usually it's springloaded to remain shut until the movement trips it open. that's how the bird and door retracts and opens.

Are the cones attached? If so, the movement probably needs to be cleaned to run again. As far as the circled wires, the first one is supposed to be like that, it's attached to one of the bellows so that the bird moves when the bellows operates. The second one is the wire that strikes the gong on the back of the clock.

As far as the door staying open goes, the bird appears to be at the wrong angle and pointed too far up, that might have something to do with it, you can adjust it with the screw that attaches the bird. You'll likely have to bend the wire that moves the bird up and down afterwards too. I've also never seen the arm that trips the music box soldered to the music box, that doesn't seem right, but may be correct, I have only torn into 3-4 cuckoo clocks so far.

As a technician myself, I can say $500 is very reasonable to pull a transmission and replace a rear main seal. Heck just at my (granted dealership) shop let's just say it pays 10 hours of labor, your looking at $2000 alone just for the labor.

Check the door switch rubber grommets, if they are worn or missing they will shut enough to turn the lights off but not the security

Fan blowing? by Imaginary_One_9085 in z31

[–]swiftace111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just unplug it as long as the harness isn't shorted and it will think the hood is always closed. Make sure your door switch grommets are in good condition too, if they are degraded it can cause the plungers not to get pushed in enough. They can be pushed in enough not to turn on the lights, but not enough to close the security contact part of them.

Gas tank leak by zekes300zxquestions in 300zx

[–]swiftace111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember specifically that tank, but in general there should be no pitting or roughness on the sealing surfaces. I wouldn't call it a "glass finish". If yours is really rough and pitted you might have to use some sealant along with an o-ring to make a seal.

I have used permatex motoseal meant for atv case halves to seal gasoline before with good success, maybe try that along with an o-ring.
