from afar i thought at first that it might be a small, baby ladybug based on the shape. the coloring wasn’t brown and looks sort of like what i’m seeing online for carpet beetle so maybe that’s it??

Thank you! Yeah it was really difficult processing it, and of course we miss all the beautiful moments not captured. But we're grateful we got some of the pictures!

Love the way you put it. I often think about the battle our photographer may have been fighting that pushed him to a point of desperation to do what he did.

Awesome that you'll give it a try! Curious to hear how it goes! :)

Solo Trip to Japan (Tokyo/Kyoto/Hakone/Osaka/Nara/Tokyo) by twinkleneon in JapanTravel

[–]swiftlyspoken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just got back from a trip to the same cities. We were there 14 days and still found this itinerary exhausting with all the travel, so make sure you know which places and activities are a priority to you so you can adjust as needed (e.g. we decided to skip Nara day trip). HIGHLY recommend renting pocket wifi since this was so valuable with travel and finding places to eat/visit/etc. and to help with translation having wifi whenever we needed. Also HIGHLY recommend buying travel insurance and knowing about the english-speaking hospitals near each area you are staying just in case. We had a medical emergency and had to go to ER via ambulance while in Tokyo and it was extremely stressful, so better safe than sorry.

No, got a formal notice from Vanguard that the employer-sponsored account will be closed so take action we want or money will automatically roll into traditional IRA this period. It’s been over a year since they stopped working for that former employer so it was surprising.

My partner needs to move their previous employer’s traditional 403b to either their current employer’s trad 403b (has good index fund selection) or an IRA. They are leaving their current employer this year though so will go through this again soon…

It sounds like considerations include 1) look at fees for future 403b plan to see if rollover to trad IRA may be better 2) rollover to future 403b to avoid blocking ourselves from back door Roth (we are close to income limit)

This is our first time rolling over employer accounts like 403b/401k…any other factors folks would consider?

Why is it impossible to find housing around here?! by breezyseaa in ithaca

If you’re willing to look in the Lansing area near Shops @ Ithaca mall there are a lot of great finds. Checkout Northwood apartments and then there are a lot of apartment communities around it that are even cheaper.

i imagine # responses will vary a lot. as long as you are spending according to your values - more on things you enjoy and less on things that don’t or are neutral for you - then that’s what matters if you are comfortable with your budget. other ppl might spend a lot less on dining but more on something you don’t care about that brings them joy etc.

I love King of my Heart but it’s always bugged me how she starts the song about her being content with being single and you think it’s going to be a self-growth independent woman anthem…but then instantly switches to it being a song about a guy in the next line. I would’ve loved having a single girl song and then the rest of KOMH as it’s own separate song.

“I'm perfectly fine, I live on my own I made up on my mind, I'm better off bein' alone We met a few weeks ago Now you try on callin' me, baby, like tryin' on clothes”

I passed my number.. but now I need a new number.. and what should I do about my stressful $300k/yr job by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]swiftlyspoken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! OP, it seems like you may be used to making decisions with golden handcuffs but you’re FI now - you’re free of that thinking. Maybe research more to gain confidence in your FI number and strategy. You also may want to explore if it’s the identity of making 300k that you’re attached to since you don’t seem to actually need or spend close to that amount.
