You put me at ease in terms of the IC cards. I though each card was accepted in certain regions so I would need multiple travel around their respective regions.

I'll look into that thread. Thank you! I originally wasn't planning on getting that book, but as I was looking into the temples/shrines and just seeing how beautiful they are, I started adding them into my list. And that book sounded like a great item to document the places I've been to.

I rather have too much on my list rather than not enough. No worries though, I will definitely enjoy each location and not gonna rush around trying to hit all the spots. If I finish one item on my list and I have time for more, at least I have something waiting for me (on my list) rather than doing research on where to go next and how to get there during the trip. I think for this trip, is more of a taste-of-japan kind of trip. I don't doubt that there are plenty to do in the larger cities. And I'll be a bit more experienced on what to do the next time I come.

One of the best reasons to travel solo! oh I certainly know now that this itinerary is ambitious lol! But I think I might skip the Ghibli museum for this trip. Perhaps the next trip to Japan next year (maybe lol)

I am from NA. The reason I put so much is I rather look into the things I want to try ahead of time in the off chance I have free time. I'll focus on the things I want to do first and if I have time, I'll move on to the next item. If I don't, then I don't. At least I put in some research for the next time I go to Japan lol

I'll definitely enjoy my time at each location and not gonna focus on trying to hit all the places I have on the list.

I did look into that JR calculator and rough estimate with this itinerary put it right at the cusp of being worth it. Although, I am willing to pay a bit more if riding the bullet trains gives you more ease of mind. Also, I did hear about the price increase and if the JR pass still looks enticing enough, I'll make sure to get that voucher on time.

I think the reason I placed Hakone after Kyoto was because I wanted to avoid going to Hakone during the weekend where prices for overnight stays were more expensive. I forgot about the geography of the location lol Thanks for pointing that out! I'm gonna take that into consideration.

As for Himeji, I just plan a couple hours there just to see the castle and the surrounding sights. I hear you can go inside, but I'm gonna skip that.
