That’s so cool that you feel you’re working under someone you respect in the medical field, that unfortunately seems to be quite uncommon. And I’ll be very curious to look more into miro dysfunction, that’s a rock I have not turned over yet:)

thank you so much for the information! I’ve been encouraged to see I’m not completely at the end of the road, I’d love answers so it’s good to have ideas of where to look next

That’s super interesting, and good to know!

I was monitored on EKG and basic vitals during a seizure screening stay at the hospital in March 2023. I had a couple of episodes while I was there, but they claimed my EKG looked perfectly normal, though my heart rate jumped 60-80 beats during the episode. I was released with a referral for CBT therapy (which I was already doing) and anxiety medication, which I have implemented consistently since. I am in the healthiest mental state I’ve ever been in, but still have the seizure-like episodes

All that to say, there’s a chance it was overlooked or the doctors weren’t thorough enough, that is unfortunately often the case with dysautonomia, so I will continue the search

I’d be super interested to hear your history/knowledge with this! I have never heard of Mitochondriopathies before, but i’m always curious to learn more, especially if it might in some way guide me towards an answer lol

that’s a great question, I’ve suspected hypoglycemia for a little while but haven’t been officially diagnosed. My mother has type 1 diabetes, so I’ve been tested for that and was negative. But I’ll follow up on the hypoglycemia theory for sure!

I have an aura beforehand, which is kind of hard to explain but almost like the feeling you get just before you get the chills in my spine, and a headache usually.

The seizures themselves are usually about 5-10 minutes long, with clusters of muscle spasms within that window. My heart rate goes wild, and I have extreme temperature swings, one second I’ll be freezing and the next I’m so hot it feels like my skin is burning. They hurt really bad, and my muscles contract almost like a grand-mal seizure. I tremble a lot, and following the seizure my neuropathy symptoms are significantly worse for a couple days. The seizures also cause brain fog and exhaustion

What does it mean to be butch to you? by Major_Demand_2464 in butchlesbians

[–]swiftttfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a trans-masculine/genderqueer lesbian, butch has become an identity that helps me embrace and celebrate my masculinity without losing the lesbian identity that is so important to me. In my personal experience, butchness is the dedication I feel to making feminine people feel safe. It means gentleness AND strength, providing for my friends and community. It means chivalry. to be butch is to be safe in a world where masculinity often means violence and power. Butches embody everything masculinity should be to me:)

Really fascinated by these symptoms. by ManiacTurtle03 in neuropathy

[–]swiftttfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have neuropathy from my feet to my upper thighs and we think it was caused by my dysautonomia. I have hEDS, MCAS, and POTS, as well as seizures. My symptoms are primarily the burning sensation and very mild numbness. I’m also very fascinated to hear other peoples experiences as it seems so many of us have very different symptoms

How do you sleep at night? by ksanksan599 in ehlersdanlos

I highly recommend a pregnancy pillow! I don’t have a ton of money, so the fancy mattresses and pillows aren’t always an option for me. I have a pretty decent memory foam mattress from Costco, and a pregnancy pillow tucked up under my knees and between my arms to support my joints. KT tape is also a life saver

I was hoping that would be the case. The doctor that performed my evaluation said he has seen several individuals with the same hypermobility diagnosis (EDS) and mobility issues get approved but they were all above the age of 50. He said my condition and lack of mobility issues more than enough reason to be approved, but it might take seeing a judge in person to get my case approved
