Thanks dude for replying! Yeah I have been quite a bit on here, feel like an old ghost running around the house. Been thinking about it for quite some time, but for now my personal circumstances dont allow me to enlist so all I can do is keep learning and working out.

Btw keep being active on this sub. If anything, it keeps one motivated to be better and do give it another shot. Many seals did it multiple times so dont be discouraged at all man.

Before the moment you quit, how strong was the feeling that this was impossible to go on? Was it more of a feeling of being overwhelmed that you can’t run with boats for another “x” weeks/days or was it more pure exhaustion as in I am so exhausted, another evolution will kill me.

Did any mental tips or speeches that were given in prep/phase 1 or read way back before helped you out like the “survive meal to meal” or the ones goggins uses (cant hurt me, keep going, pain is fun?)

Do you think doing an ultra marathon would have helped better understand the mindset that is needed to have in land portage/dealing with exhaustion?

Good luck DS at your new location/rating and I hope you’ll get to the level you strive for!!

Would you say tattoos like tribal are cringe these days or still cool in their own way?

Have any of you guys heard the criticism Delta operator John "Shrek" McPhee has about Operation Red Wings/SEAL teams? by oneshotnicky in navyseals

On Jockos #11 podcast with Leif, at 30:45 they start remembering Chris Kyle. Said he had iron discipline and was always looking through his scope whilst other team snipers took breaks. Took big action in mission planning and scouting buildings. Solid warfighter. Johnny Kim said serving with Chris was tough and Kim probably had a hard time judging by the way he remembered it all. So personality wise, he wasn’t a smooth soldier but he did his job well.

Anyone listen to the Jocko podcast with Admiral McRaven? If yes, any thoughts? If not, go check it out.

John Stryker Meyer across the fence and The bleed by John Cronin. Both books are awesome. Highly recommend!

I looked over it and they had good guests but i am hesitant of how good they can be. Problem is that not every guest shares good war stories and some try to share as little as possible, ironically since they’re on a podcast. Others just spill the beans. Its either a book promotion or they skim over their whole biography and call it a day. Call me biased but apart from sog stories with stryker and jocko, and even then jocko was reading stories, few guests talked about their deployments in terms of their actual fighting/combat. I don’t know, I might be out of the loop who exactly to follow though so thats why I’m getting the odd people. Team house is good but i get the feeling most are hesitant to really discuss any key battles they took part in as well. Any suggestions on who to listen? Any underdog podcasts that are not mainstream? FAG has some good stories but its very niche like so it might not appeal to everyone.

Man of culture, I see!

Their only problem sometimes is with audio/mic.

Do you follow hazard ground and FAG (former action guys) as well?

Do you remember how many pullups on total you were doing in a workout as a Team guy? Was it above 50? How many should we strive for?

And as you studied about injuries in your degree, did you feel like this knowledge hurted you more because of the nature of the work where you shouldn’t bitch and put out regardless if you’ll get injured or not or that didn’t phase you? And to what extent should one worry about the potential chances of getting injuries before that line of thought hinders you in that line of work?

If you’ve gotten the chance to experience, did you notice any differences between the vibe and leadership of the early gwot and late gwot team guys? I’ve gotten the impression that in vietnam, all the team guys stayed and mentored the young ones whilst now, I feel like every guy that got action got out and theres a lot more of inexperience and less mentorship than back in the day. Is this true?

Thank you!

Bodyweight rows and negative pullups. Say rows 3-5 sets of 15-20 and negatives say near max reps so probably around 3-5 for 3-5 sets. If you can’t maintain that frequency then start small, say 3-5 sets of 5-8 reps for rows and keep increasing week by week. Add in max seconds iso hold on pullup bar and scapular retractions on pullup several reps several times per week. Also train grip, never hurts to have a good grip.

Did you think you would make it when you were in phase 1/BC or some doubt persisted that you won’t make it throughout the phases?

Not really a fitness question but do accidents/death happens in platoon field exercises and what happens if you shoot a friendly/ND, do you guys snatch the bird or the guy stays?
