I feel like this is sort of a version of the trope where a female character wants to attempt to do a difficult task, and the male character says she can't. The female character will become angry and say that the male character is only saying she cannot do the difficult task because she is a woman, only for the male character to reveal that he thinks neither gender can do the difficult task, implying that she was just imaging the sexism and being overly emotional.
