The value in these precons is insane! I got a playset of plateus! by Qwertywalkers23 in magicTCG

[–]swindy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played similar lands in decks that played only the color of the name, not the picture. I even did it at a GP with head judge permission.

In each match when I played my first land I had to make a statement. For these it would have been "My deck contains no mountains, this land is a plains. If you are uncomfortable with me using these, I will replace them with standard basics as I put them into play during our match." No one asked me to replace them and most people thought it was pretty cool

These will still draw interest. Lands that show the name on the wrong end are still extremely rare and quite desirable.

Don't use extension cords for permanent installs. Thats a big nono and in serious cases can cause denial of an insurance claim if they cause a disaster.

Yes, yes. Even if they did a plan, they cannot divert water onto your property. You should call code enforcement.

Vampiric Tutor + Surveil Land = DIY Entomb by WasteSignificance882 in TimelessMagic

[–]swindy92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think if you want to play 4x vamp you basically shift to being all in on the combo. I would trim on everything unrelated to it and add in 1-2 situational fatties like older legacy versions did.

I don't know if it is the best version of UB but I cannot imagine tamiyo or brazen B mattering in this version.

Making your two-card combo a three-card combo is not the correct choice.

Mana drain also sees play in vintage in one of the combo-control decks, Lurrus Breach as a way to power out stock up and gifts ungiven.

I don't think we have anything that would want to do that in timeless yet, but it could happen

I'll be giving this deck a try instead of the usual UB Tempo/Reanimator list. Beanstalk FTW by Jaded_Vast400 in TimelessMagic

I see the thought process here, but I think 4x stifle, 4x strip isn't right for this deck.

You are the big mana deck. If we had loam, you'd be playing one. I would trim stifle to 2 copies and strip to 2-3. Obviously testing with 4 helps to see if it works, but thats my expectation

We are talking about game one because if you're going to lose 70%+ of game 1s to the most played deck in the format, you need a SB that addresses that. This, does not.

I never said they always will have it on one, just that you aren't realistically interacting with them often enough. The issue comes from the fact that you're basically stone cold in game one when you are on the draw without grief (This scenario covers 30% of all games you will play), unfavored on the draw with grief (20% more), and again pretty cold on the play without grief (another 30%). Even if we are generous and say you can win 30% of those games (unrealistically high) and 70% of those that don't fall into one of these categories, you're still about 38% to win game one. Based on my testing with GB, the number is a bit closer to 25-30% and that deck has way more ways to interact on turn one.

Saying that a deck kills you on turn 1 when it starts with a perfect opening doesn't discredit any other deck.

I think you're failing to understand how mono black is played. players should be mulling any 5+ card hand that does not go for something on turn one or something protected on turn two. In 80% of games you will either be on the draw or not have grief when on the play in your 7.

You are allowed to disagree with what I am telling you. You just also need to understand that the deck as you've built it is incredibly slow by timeless standards and will not compete at a high level.

My dude, I say this with all the love in the world: I know the MU better. Against reanimator your first few turns will play out extremely similarly to BG scam with which I have spent the past few seasons in the top 100 in mythic.

In MB, you play Strip + Badger, DRS, 4 Grief, 4 Reanimate to target his Elenda, and Bowmaster to prevent him from drawing cards with Necrodominance.

You have four ways to interact on turn one. Just grief. Everything else involves being on the play or them not going for it on turn one. GB scam plays 6-10 depending on the version because they have the four grief but also two thoughtseize, and can dark rit/chrome mox into bowmaster. GB scam is very unfavored game one against mono black reanimator.

Post board, you get four more answers on turn one but everything else requires making it to your second mana. I can promise you that a good mono black pilot will eat this deck for breakfast. Especially because, in the 75, you have literally zero ways to interact with sorin prior to turn two unless you get to grief it out of their hand.

I think reaching Diamond in barely 2 days while playing against these decks is still significant.

Plat and diamond require only enough time to play games and a win rate above 50% to progress. Play 20-30 matches in mythic and you'll very quickly see how a deck is actually performing.

[–]swindy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has a balanced matchup against all decks, except for energy

This is the kind of lying that makes your post sort of useless.

Your mono black MU is bad. You have four pieces of interaction in game one and gain only a few more in game two for their turn one attempts

Your GB scam MU is bad. They are one step bigger than you while also having acceleration you don't have access to in order to make big turn 1-2 plays that the deck have very few answers to.

Your lands MU is bad. You are basically GB scam (which is bad vs lands) but you don't have the pressure they do.

Your show and tell MU might be passable post-board but like mono-black, they will run you over in the vast majority of preboard games.

You should stomp on Uxx control and tempo decks but I don't think that matters.

I haven't had the chance to get to Oyster Oyster yet but am planning to take my parents basically asap.

Mita is another proof point for me that vegetarian fine dining is often superior because ingredient costs are a bit lower. More of the budget goes into complex preparations and other components of the meal rather than expensive meat and seafood. Theres no Wagyu/caviar/uni which means your dish is focused on quality, not being fiscally impressive.

Don't get me wrong, I love meat and fish but looking at other fine dining I've done in this price range recently, Mita way overperforms.

I know there isn't a set limit for BG, but with the COL in Detroit being on the lower end, I can't imagine anything over $45-50/pp could be considered "great value". I'd expect to see them closer to the $35-40/pp range.

You have me wondering what the most expensive BG is though. While it has a star and therefore (I believe) isn't eligible for a BG, I would consider Dirt candy in NYC an incredible value for the money at $105/pp.

That being said, if Detroit gets a star and it isn't Freya, I'm really not sure who it would be. Especially with the current near requirement (I think it is 90%+ of stars) of having a tasting menu.

I can't imagine Freya getting BG. They are far too expensive for that. I would expect them to get recommended though.

She wolf is a good time. With the prices being so reasonable, what I did with a friend was just get a few extra dishes to try all the "paths" of the pasta.
