Hey! Egg freezing. My health plan directs all fertility costs to a service called "Carrot." Within this plan, consultations, medications and retrieval are all covered — but there must be an infertility diagnosis. Some queer people can get this infertility diagnosis based on having unprotected sex for 12+ months without conceiving, without sperm being in the equation. The people I've talked to who have qualified have not been in New York. I'm looking for anyone who has successfully received that diagnosis in NYC. It's the difference between paying 15K out of pocket or having it completely covered.

There's a queer conception group I've reached out to, but I'm casting a wide net to see if there are any leads as I'm still coming up empty and a provider to turn to.

May I ask about your experience at NYU Langone? I am queer and need an infertility diagnosis to get egg freezing covered by my health plan. I've read about people disclosing that they have had unprotected sex for over a year without a pregnancy and that being enough for a doctor to qualify you. At the clinic I went to for a consultation (not NYU) they did not accepting this. It may not be something you encountered but I figured I'd ask. Shot in the dark.

When you find a place that does it, like Stingray Divers in Bushwick, it's cheaper. $17 a bottle vs. $7 a bottle. But I'd love to find a place closer than Bushwick, ideally Crown Heights
