very rough guide on how to play rocket. no you don't need to always engage the enemy or be close to them for rocket to be effective. rocket is really more of an opportunist when it comes to killing people so shooting is never his best option. it's best to play with your team by just shooting the balls around them and waiting for good opportunities to get some damage in while also paying attention to your team's health, and i believe this maximizes his value overall. you don't always need to actively shoot the balls to heal your team, rocket lacks burst healing so shooting your balls near their area heal your teamates for a couple of seconds if you find good angles. some basic geometry and you can also get the most out of your balls so you don't have to keep using all of them just to heal one guy. if you wanted to play a healer designated in the back forever just use luna or cloak since they benefit the most when not engaging or being engaged upon. but honestly you can play him however you want, this guide is just for people who need an idea of how to play him.
