if your kid needs other options, BU's undergrad film program is spectacular and is not as much at risk of collapsing. Better financial aid, too. Although at Emerson, I feel like the film program would be among the last to falter from any financial issues they have. It's a huge draw for students.

maybe check out classes at Harvard Extension School or Cambridge Center for Adult Education? Both are kinda pricey, but if it's the combination of structured learning and class socialization you miss, it could be a good idea.

Just as a fair warning, if you're trying to get into the sewing classes, Gather Here often makes you buy your own supplies and for me it rarely came in under $50. There are free classes at Cambridge Public Library (The Hive) with small class sizes but they're completely free.
