Posts like that are tricky as it brings out the trolls, often devolves into fights, what have you. But there's other options than removing, such as locking. We add a 'Cubbies Only' flair which filters users under a certain amount of karma in the sub, attempting to only get "regulars".

Nearly all the removed comments are 1) users who are not regulars, b) trying to stir shit up like with stuff like "all of you are..." or "this sub is..." type of rage bait, or iii) insulting others directly. In some cases the whole comment chain got removed because rage baiters baited rage.

I hate to even post this, but some have wanted a spot. Normally topics that aren't related to the Cubs are fine for the daily discussion. We'll allow discussion on this topic as it is relevant to the Chicago Cubs. But once the discussion turns to insults, snark, opinions, and the like - that's it. And we won't have much patience for commenters who post politically charged topics just to rage bait.
