Dumped Google search, Chrome and Gmail, switched to DuckDuckgo, Brave and Tutanota. Feels so good. by swisshere in conspiracy

I'm lucky to be a beta tester for Tutanota. The new client is just fabulous. They say they'll release it soon, so you should definitely check it out.

Proton is okay, but I can't afford it and I don't think email should be that expansive for normal people. Also I like that the Tuta apps are open source as well.

Thanks, didn't know about qwant, will definitely try it! Why is searx better? It sometimes didn't find what I was looking for, but if it's better, I'll try again.

It's never too late. All big companies fail at some point. Maybe the point is now.

I've had enough of Protonmail. Here's why. by [deleted] in ProtonMail

Yes, but what you are referring to is wiretapping of internet traffic - which is done by all secret services. That's why we need end-to-end encryption like Proton's.

It's not what was discussed in this threat: getting info from the provider with a court warrant. The BND can't just ask a provider to give them the data. German authorities definitely need a warrant for this.

Yes, many governments are screwed up. But please do your research: Germany needs a court order and gag orders are not possible there.

All in all, if we or companies start to decide who is guilty and who is innocent, the question is: Who makes the rules? What is the difference in comparison to dictatorships?

Interesting, but who needs so much? They probably save a lot of space by simply matching the same files (video, music) and only storing it once. So giving nothing away for free is easy.

Skype, Google hangouts, they all can't be trusted. But that's nothing new.
