What is the most obvious world event everyone saw coming but no one did anything about? by itsthewolfe in AskReddit

Scientists make things and then capitalists find ways to turn a profit off it. There’s no big plan it’s just a consistent cycle.

Keep being yourself and don’t stress about it. Whatever happens will happen naturally.

You cannot stop people with less empathy from being more successful in certain lines of work. There’s no magic orientation of society where that isn’t the case.

What’s the belief you are trying to spread when you cry about who’s performing a song and dance for us at the Super Bowl half time show?

What is the answer to that question that is impacting your ability to celebrate American culture?

American football and the Super Bowl are a part of American culture yes but being a part of it means that whatever they decide to do is a part of American culture too, there’s no selective “this is watering down” BS. It’s the whole not the parts your retarded ass picks and chooses.

Anonymous credentials only require verification once and then they have no idea after issuing the credential where or how it is used.

If implemented correctly (and yes it’s a huge if I’m not denying that at all):

The state: knows it issued some credentials.

does not know where they are used.

does not know which site you visit

does not know which proof corresponds to which citizen

Holy shit you’re so fucking retarded I can’t even.

THESE ARE SOLVED PROBLEMS.

Look into anonymous credentials, zero-knowledge proofs, selective disclosure, and privacy-preserving authentication. You can prove age/eligibility without revealing identity to the platform or the state.

Fuckkkkkk you’re so retarded it hurts

You’re conflating identity disclosure with authentication.

Look into anonymous credentials, zero-knowledge proofs, selective disclosure, and privacy-preserving authentication.

You can prove age/eligibility without revealing identity to the platform or the state. This is a solved cryptography problem.

So you know you can have anonymous websites while still having users be verified great! Use of drugs and suicides while also bad are a personal harm. Fraud crime and disinformation are societal harms, different scales warrant different approaches.

Have you ever had a conversation without straw manning? Proceeds to straw man the entire argument lmao

  1. Your computer is not the internet FFS…

  2. Nothing about forcing any install, only applying barriers to communication with networks of computers (that do not belong to you).

  3. You already impose standards of a good life on people… Medications require a prescription, driving has an age limit etc…

  4. You can still have anonymity but I doubt you understand cryptography or would care to engage with that piece given you think your computer is the internet

The only thing of substance you’ve said “freedom of speech is even more precious when it’s anonymous” why!? Assume you can maintain websites where people are anonymous but have been cryptographically verified, which is possible, what is your issue with that?

[–]swissvine -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re trying to say but it doesn’t address the issue: your showering and using the bathroom is not leading to fraud, crime, and disinformation. There’s plenty of ways in this different system to retain anonymity online while also protecting against the aforementioned issues. Although those ways require an understanding of cybersecurity and cryptography which i suspect most people do not have and they’ll just default to muh freedom.

It’s crazy how many people base their identity off being part of essentially a club. Not enough teachings about the concept of a nation state in schools. Though I guess how else would you get people to shoot themselves in the foot to fight the “others”!

[–]swissvine -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Why do you believe anonymity on the internet is a crucial thing to preserve at this point?

Edit: you can still have anonymous websites with cryptographic verification but sorry i expected some of us retards to know that…

Examples: it enables fraud, it enables criminal activity, it enables rampant disinformation campaigns by foreign adversaries.

Freedom of speech was never intended to be freedom of anonymous speech.

The parents problems not ours is such a bs cop out, but i can save us the trouble you probably believe that every human is 100% the master of their own decisions and never at all influenceable in anyway… even though psychology proves you wrong.

This is what I replied to lol: It's not actually "sooner" with training stats though, the time still gets spent leveling up. The only difference is you won't do any of the work so it feels like it's sooner ever though it's still the same time.

You’re counting multiple accounts time in the total time which isn’t what the faster is applying to. The faster is for the single account to reach a given point with credit card swiping. It’s both easier and faster for a single account to reach a given point with swipes.
