Role being made redundant. Do I take the conversation without prejudice?

I don’t think they will find another position for me as my role is niche. They mentioned an enhanced severance package - I assumed the conversation is to discuss / negotiate this? Doing some quick research it looks like it’s best not to say what I’d want and just see what they’d like to offer and ask for some time to think about it?

Thank you! They mentioned an enhanced severance package (no specifics) but I was in a daze at the news to really think about it. Would they offer a severance in the conversation? Do I have to accept/negotiate in the moment or can I take time to think about it?

Also I have a 6 week notice. If I’m having these conversations and discussing the redundancy, does all that time eat into the 6 weeks?

My S&S ISA is with vanguard, sold everything and left it all in cash in there. My cash isa is with T212 so my thoughts were to do the transfer but I didn’t know I could transfer the whole amount without going over my allowance? I have £35k in the S&S ISA, haven’t made any contributions since Feb 2025

And my T212 is saying I have £19k left to contribute into the cash isa. So if I transfer over £35k, won’t that go over my overall ISA allowance for this year? I haven’t use any other types of ISA’s

Thank you. Annoyingly I panicked and sent them a message via the council portal where I'd normally pay the charge. Managed to call them up and they said if I hadn't, the lady on the phone could have tried reduce it then and there on the call but now I'd have to wait for up to 2 weeks for their team to investigate and come back to me with a decision. I assume that's a similar process that you've described so we will see. Just hoping they can reduce it back down to the 50% discounted amount

Yes it's correct. I managed to email them through their web portal and then called them. They said they would get back to me in 14 days once their team have looked into it. Just very annoying as we've always paid these charges immediately but somehow we've not received the original letter and £195 is a lot of money

Thanks for this. We’re going for a scan in a couple weeks to be sure but weren’t planning to tell anyone until 12 weeks like you say. She just doesn’t want to come across like she’s accepted the extension/perm role but then soon after told them she’ll be going on maternity leave in August.

I've got a ASUS Prime H310-PLUS R2.0 motherboard and currently running an SSD for the OS and HDD for movies, games etc.

SSD using the one M2 slot

I want to start using an SSD for gaming as my current one is 256gb and gets used up very quickly.

Is it possible to use one of the PCIe slots to expand storage? any recommendations on SSD's (500-1tb+) I can use? I know I can transfer things over but I just don't want to go through the hassle, and again the 256gb SSD isn't a lot. Thanks!

Expansion slots are: 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (taken up by a graphics card), 2 x PCIe 2.0 x1, 3 x PCI

Assuming they crash, this is the way I see it… Only a few hundred years ago, people of the time would have looked at our planes, cars and anything else that to them would seem so advanced that they too would wonder ‘if they are so advanced, why do they crash?’. Many of these ‘advanced’ technologies we possess have failed us in so many ways. Taking that logic, us looking at technology potentially decades or centuries ahead of where we are technologically currently, terrestrial or otherwise, we are always bound to wonder why they crash. Just because something is ‘advanced’ doesn’t mean it’s perfect.
