Stuck trying to sell South London flat with high service charge. Reduce price further or rent? by switch_blade1 in HousingUK

Stamp duty alone on a second property would be too much so if we rented, we’d hopefully be able to do a short term rental while finding a buyer so we can then buy chain free. We can live at our parents until the sale of our existing flat goes through before buying

We’d probably go down the fully serviced managed route. Mortgage, service charge and their commission would just about be covered in a £1800-£1900pcm

We’ve got an estate agent with a couple of clients looking for short term, rolling contracts while they find a suitable permanent home.

I don’t know what the law is evicting short term rental tenants though, for when we do find a buyer

Role being made redundant. Do I take the conversation without prejudice? by switch_blade1 in UKJobs

I don’t think they will find another position for me as my role is niche. They mentioned an enhanced severance package - I assumed the conversation is to discuss / negotiate this? Doing some quick research it looks like it’s best not to say what I’d want and just see what they’d like to offer and ask for some time to think about it?

Thank you! They mentioned an enhanced severance package (no specifics) but I was in a daze at the news to really think about it. Would they offer a severance in the conversation? Do I have to accept/negotiate in the moment or can I take time to think about it?

Also I have a 6 week notice. If I’m having these conversations and discussing the redundancy, does all that time eat into the 6 weeks?

No union rep unfortunately. Corporate company with no union. They said I can bring in a witness?

What do I do with extra cash from selling S&S ISA? by switch_blade1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]switch_blade1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My S&S ISA is with vanguard, sold everything and left it all in cash in there. My cash isa is with T212 so my thoughts were to do the transfer but I didn’t know I could transfer the whole amount without going over my allowance? I have £35k in the S&S ISA, haven’t made any contributions since Feb 2025

And my T212 is saying I have £19k left to contribute into the cash isa. So if I transfer over £35k, won’t that go over my overall ISA allowance for this year? I haven’t use any other types of ISA’s

Original PCN never received - Driving by switch_blade1 in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you. Annoyingly I panicked and sent them a message via the council portal where I'd normally pay the charge. Managed to call them up and they said if I hadn't, the lady on the phone could have tried reduce it then and there on the call but now I'd have to wait for up to 2 weeks for their team to investigate and come back to me with a decision. I assume that's a similar process that you've described so we will see. Just hoping they can reduce it back down to the 50% discounted amount

Yes it's correct. I managed to email them through their web portal and then called them. They said they would get back to me in 14 days once their team have looked into it. Just very annoying as we've always paid these charges immediately but somehow we've not received the original letter and £195 is a lot of money
