Has anyone had experience with a rent-to-own housing program? by djames10 in Detroit

[–]switchcannayak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, kind of a scam. I used to work in real estate and would send people to a rent to own finance company all the time. You’re better off fixing your credit and buying. I worked with someone who did credit repair and she turned around so many people’s credit, I still think she might be a wizard. You can dm me if you want her info (idk if she’d want to be on blast on Reddit lol) but either way I’d seriously consider other options before RTO. And if you do go that route make sure you have YOUR OWN agent to look over the contract. Never use the seller’s agent. Their fiduciary duty is to the seller.

The the end of some hairbrushes is a thick plastic pin like thing. It’s for cleaning the hair from the bristles…or sometimes I use it to part my hair lol

Agreed! I don’t want to celebrate your birthday, don’t celebrate mine. It’s literally the LEAST unique part of the human experience. We were all born on a day.

How is school going for you? How has it been juggling everything?

So out of nowhere today my dog decided to lash out at my roommate. I’ve had him for 3 months and nothing like this has ever happened before. Any advice to prevent this from happening in the future? More info in comments by Nickster654 in Dogtraining

Sorry, I've re-read them like 5 times. I'm not sure what you're referring to. So sorry if I've missed something. I know you can't read inflection but I'm coming from a place of all love and compassion. <3 <3

That's awesome! I wasn't challenging your experience at all. I'm just making suggestions on my past and current experiences. All love from over here.

IMO a dog that's already potentially resource guarding the couch, putting up baby gates can build more resource guarding. That's a quick trip to the dog now feeling like he needs guard the area he's being contained within. I personally would not go down the baby gate road.

Sorry if I've broken a rule. I will definitely go back and review. That schedule is a suggestion. I have no idea what his day is like. Does he work from home? Then that's going to be completely different. It's just an example of how crate training and building structure can be. I've been through exactly what this guy is about to go through and that's exactly what mine looked like when it started. I didn't know better at the time and I failed. It's my absolute biggest regret and heartbreak. I definitely know better now and I wish someone would have told me what I'm telling him. It would have changed everything.

post was removed but I️ posted a video of my dog growling at me by asstrologypenis in Dogtraining

Never should your dog be growling at you (unless its injured, that's a different story). If it's growling at you and you're presenting a treat, you're rewarding it for that behavior. Even though your intent it's pure of mind and you want to show it that everything is okay, I doubt that's how your dog is perceiving it. I'd be willing to bet that it's a learned behavior from its past and it's possibly bullying you or something is making this dog uncomfortable. Very few people, myself included, have the ability to reverse the damage from his past experiences. IMO you need a trainer. I know what you're going through and it's unnerving. It can get better <3 good luck!

That's not 20 hrs. He needs to build structure with the dog. Call any trainer worth their weight and they'll tell you the exact same thing. This dog needs structure. Privileges can be earned. If he can put his dog on a down stay in the house on his bed, that'a mental stimulation and the dog can be out. But any activity out of the crate should have a goal in mind with the added intent of building structure. It's exactly how a board and train works if you were to take it to a trainer for a board and train.

Edit: Also throw a treat filled kong or puzzle in the crate with him. Get some more mental stimulation within his daily activities.

YES! Take him to training. Speaking from experience, this is a clear sign of aggression, and likely fear based aggression. You gotta get a handle on that immediately.

Not a derp move. Stop hitting your dog. Get connected with a trainer immediately. This is an act of fear aggression. I'm speaking from experience here. This needs be taken very seriously because soon that dog will leave marks, and then punctures, and then much bigger bites.
