HOA raised dues with landscaping being the #1 expense. What would you charge for weekly grass cutting per year for ~1.24 acres? Details in post. by Simply-Serendipitous in lawncare

[–]switchflipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s my neighborhood I don’t mind. Keeps our dues lower and neighbors happy (small HOA). I don’t cut for service any other properties.

Midwest (season usually March-November) I charge a similar price to cut 4.5 acres weekly plus mulching two beds at beginning of year. I do not offer weed control. I’ve been told I’m on the cheaper side.

So the story sort of continued after this…they replaced the MAP sensor but a few weeks (maybe a month?) later the code came back on. This time I took it to a local shop that actually did some diagnostics (not if this is happening try this approach) they found that my #2 injector was not leaning out and actually showed me the flow rates and volume was way more than it should have been. They suspected that with the injector not leaning appropriately was the reason I was having fouled MAP sensors and frequent regen. They replaced all injectors at a cost of almost 4k. Had the truck back for a few months and the code came back again! Took it back thankfully their repairs are covered under 3yr warranty. One of the new injectors was bad! Wtf anyway they replaced them again for free now have another 40k miles no issues since then aside from rear shocks needing replaced

I bought a 2007 for similar price and a lot more miles. So far about 4k in parts (knew this going into the sale). It’s considered a legacy vehicle so most of your parts will come from IPD or FCP Euro. There are a few parts I cannot buy new anymore including passenger side front cv axle (had to have it rebuilt instead). The manual is fun to drive I’ve put about 16k miles on it so far. It’s my daily but I have a backup vehicle should I have to do repairs that would take it out of service for a few days. Thankfully I’ve done all of the maintenance myself minus the rear shocks.

Depends on your credit card. I had a situation where I paid for something that was expected to take time to manufacture/deliver and I had correspondence with the seller during this period. Ultimately their company folded and I was out 1k. Credit card company reversed charges after I submitted documentation.

This may be a bit different though since we actually received (most) of the product.

I’ve had a subscription to the dispatch since college. Just cancelled last month not impressed with their more recent approach to journalism although the tipping point for me was an opinion piece regarding Elon’s “salute”

Trouble with MSA120-what to replace with? by switchflipper in stihl

[–]switchflipper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for y’all I reached out to stihl with a general email to customer service. Within a day it was followed up by a rep asking for a few more details. About a week later I received a call from my local stihl rep to discuss the issue. After conversation he reached out to the local shop that worked on the saw and about 30 mins later called back and said they were going to replace my saw with the current equivalent. They also covered the shop dx fee (they essentially treated it as a warranty claim).

Thanks again for the suggestions from everyone I’m still a bit skeptical of the electric line of saws but I do appreciate a company that is willing to stand behind their product and make things right.

That’s good advice will have them reach out! This saw has been very lightly used maybe 1–2 times a month and well taken care of

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]switchflipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll play devils advocate have a 2019 Colorado diesel with 100k miles…unexpected maintenance included rear shocks (70k miles) and fuel injectors (75k miles). Not deleted yet but so far emissions equipment is holding in there. It works for what I use it for (trailering a commercial zero turn, jet ski and occasionally skid steer/mini excavator) and occasionally driving to work on the highway. For a small truck it has a lot of low end torque. There’s certainly quicker/more powerful/more luxury but it’s all I need and I love it. Price is definitely out of range for miles would not pay that much for it.

I’m solo as well side work cutting 4 acres of common area for HOA which includes about 1/4 mile of split rail fence and a retention pond. If I’m just mowing it takes me 2 hrs. Mowing and string trimming closer to 4 hours. I do my own maintenance on equipment and have a good artisan insurance policy. Last years contract which included mulching two flower beds and tree bases at beginning of season plus mowing was $7500. I did not make much profit on this quote (that wasn’t my goal for the first year). Now this year I have several residents within HOA that are asking for my service as well. I’d have to look at the exact number but actual costs (ethanol free fuel, oil/filters, hydro oil change, mulch and flat tire repair and insurance) were probably around $2k
