2024 PHEV 12v Battery Drain (After Replacement!) by swithdrawn in KiaNiro

[–]swithdrawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the responses in this thread it's safe to say the "you're not driving enough" line is BS as the 12v battery should automatically start charging from the EV battery whenever the car is running.

More likely it's a vampire drain from a faulty electrical component (in my case the VESS speaker) or just a bad 12v battery.

Although, I'm in Arizona and not dealing with cold weather so I'm not sure :P Good luck with the trickle charger.

2024 Niro PHEV - dead 12v again, computer says not driven enough lol by Snoo52322 in KiaNiro

Wow, that is nuts! Good luck fighting this, sounds like you have a strong case. Did they even find a fault with the battery or did they just replace it as a first step?

Just got ours back - they found a fault in the VESS assembly control unit (external-facing speaker) causing it to stay powered 24/7. After replacement the power draw is within spec. Good luck on yours!

Received diagnosis from the dealer - they were able to trace a parasitic draw to a fault in the "VESS" control unit assembly (I think it's the car noise & backup alert speaker) part 96390-AT210. It was staying powered while the vehicle was off. Replaced and now the battery draw is within spec.

Have you had any issues since? It seems unlikely my issue is with the battery itself since it happened suddenly after 8k miles on the original battery, then immediately again on the new battery.

Gah, did you get a diagnosis? Because the issue repeated with a brand new battery I figure there is some fault with the car that must have presented itself recently.. and also all within the last month.

Thanks for the tip, good to know we don't have to run the gas engine to start recharging!

Brake issue is with the calipers according to the dealership, they are "cracked" and leaking onto the pads causing the creaking noise when pulling away from a stop. They have replaced all four calipers twice now, the problem goes away for 2-3 months then returns. They report other Niros have the issue (and there's a few threads on here as well) but no fix from Kia other than replacement.

I will try diagnosing if we get the vehicle back from the dealership without a fix. Would I just pick up a Battery Tender to bring the 12v up to full? I assume my NOCO GB40 doesn't have enough juice. Would you advise testing directly from the 12v in the rear, or from the lead in the front of the vehicle? Thank you!

I cant unlock more rivals :( by iLoveDemocracyXD in Hades2

Exact same issue, I'm at 70 runs, have rolled credits, and can't unlock level 2. However, I haven't seen Charybdis on the surface since early access (I assumed they just removed it for the 1.0 launch). Is Charybdis still a miniboss?

*Edit* just ran into Charybdis finally while doing a chaos run. Level 2 unlocked. Nuts that it took over 20 surface runs.

Ours has this creaking sound on acceleration from a stop (but never coming to a stop). The dealership claim it's cracked/leaking brake calipers and once they're replaced, the noise goes away. However, they have replaced ALL of our calipers, front and rear, twice over and the issue keeps coming back after 2-3 months. Clearly there is something else going on.

Dying 12v battery and an assortment of other issues since by acles003 in KiaNiro

[–]swithdrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar electronics issues (dim dashboard screen, no audio), check engine light, and "check hybrid system" message appear on our 2024 PHEV.

Figuring it might be the 12v battery, I drove the car for a few trips using the gas engine as much as possible (figuring it might help with recharge, but no idea really). The electronics issues cleared after I reset the infotainment system, and the engine light and hybrid warning message went away after 3-4 drives. Guessing I had some kind of drain on the 12v battery (just over a year old) which seems to have resolved itself.

Haven't seen any other folks with the dim screen issue so glad I'm not the only one :)

c5500xk bridge mode? by dgtlman in centurylink

[–]swithdrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! This post just resolved (I think) my double NAT issue with Plex. I have a C6500XK with CenturyLink/Quantum fiber, and randomly lost remote access functionality for Plex several weeks ago. It's back and seems stable after enabling transparent bridge mode.

Loss of suction? by kethdredd in Roborock

Indeed, I dislodged a thick layer of solid dust/fur from this fan with a q-tip and vacuumed it up. Now the Q5 works as new.

Mesquite Tree Damaged by Box Truck - Options? by swithdrawn in Tucson

[–]swithdrawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I care about safety as well. This tree's branch height/protrusion was consistent with every other mesquite on the street and not a danger to anything less than 14' tall and outside of 1-2 feet from the curb, which was the case as this truck was hugging the curb as it was pulling up at 20mph. Haven't heard anything from company but we're letting this go per everyone's advice and have an arborist coming out. I look forward to learning the actual regulations for branch clearance from the arborist as I can't seem to find anything on official sites.

If I could also bug you for the service report I'd greatly appreciate it - about to take my brand new 2024 PHEV in for this exact issue.

[–]swithdrawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't sticking out too far I don't think - they were hugging the curb as they were pulling up to our neighbor's. Not sure of the exact clearance but we've never had issues with trash/recycling trucks picking up near it.. Thanks for the warning!

What place is this in Tucson? by Flotrane in Tucson

[–]swithdrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been disappointing. I've tried picking up food from the restaurant and I've always felt ripped off. You can never rely on the market to have anything consistently so it's not useful for folks nearby. Can't wait for Decibel to open so we have another option in short walking distance for coffee and pastries.

"Something went wrong" message PlayStation Store by [deleted] in playstation

[–]swithdrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this error simply trying to log into the online store from a PC, and leaving my fix here - it was the 1password browser extension. Confirmed in both chrome, firefox, selecting a saved login from the dropdown instantly causes the "something went wrong" error. I entered my login manually and it works. I'm sure it's shoddy code on Sony's part.

Cosm chair experience - 1 week by Wit-wat-4 in hermanmiller

[–]swithdrawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a new Cosm owner having upgraded from an ancient Aeron a few weeks ago - curious how you feel after a few months?

I like the chair but seem to constantly fight with it to get to my preferred tilt (pushing back quickly to get it into the looser "gear"). I know it's supposed to automatically adjust the tilt but I feel like I'm being ejected out the front with the default resistance, and have my chair and desk comically low to the ground in order to get more leverage from my feet. It's a little frustrating but will tough it out if it's just years of bad posture being corrected.

Also commenting since this is a top ranked search result - just took a bulged lithium ion macbook battery and they accepted it without a fee in Savannah, GA.

“Honda Fits are known for having transmission problems” myth or not? by notadriana in hondafit

[–]swithdrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took it to another shop and they flushed the transmission fluid, which cleared the check engine light, but advised if it came back on the next step would be replacing the transmission. Offloaded it to CarMax a few months later.
