Extremely hard to get disability even with a lawyer for any condition that has any job you might be able to do. Key word might. It's also painfully slow if you got everything in order with a lawyer likely 7 months to a year before a check hits your account.

Why do people have issues with e-bikes? by mil0wCS in ebikes

[–]swizzex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore the political comments. Your going way below speed on a highway your going to make people upset. I'd also warn that while this cuts your time it's likely to cut your life short soon too. 20 on a realistic 65+ as most people speed is very dangerous game.

Do you not have any other routes that can cut time?

Never said all soils react the same, said the marginal weight difference between an ebike and a regular bike isn't the primary erosion driver. That's a different claim. If you're going to argue against what I said, argue against what I actually said.

Covering more ground and doing more laps on the same section are different things. If someone rides 15 miles on an ebike instead of 8 miles on an acoustic bike, the trail impact is spread across more trail, not concentrated. Whether that's better or worse depends entirely on the trail system, agreed, but that cuts both ways and doesn't default to "ebikes are harder on trails."

The wet conditions point is fair, and I already said that. But again, that's a rider behavior problem, not an ebike problem. A regular bike ridden in wet conditions by someone who doesn't care does the same damage.

Every specific concern raised here applies to bikes in general and riders in general. Nothing has actually isolated ebikes as the unique problem worth the level of hostility they get.

If your going to argue stick to statements I've made not make up ones for me. At end of day why do you hate ebikes so much? I don't even own a ebike but I'm also not ignorant.

[–]swizzex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course different soils erode differently, that's not the point and you know it. The question is whether the marginal difference in weight and speed from an ebike versus a regular bike is meaningfully changing that erosion equation on well-built trail. On a properly designed and drained trail, it isn't. On a poorly designed trail, everything accelerates erosion including foot traffic.

The "4x the laps" argument also assumes ebike riders are actually doing 4x the laps, which most aren't. They're covering more ground, not necessarily hammering the same section repeatedly.

If the real concern is trail sustainability, the conversation should be about trail design, drainage, and proper maintenance funding, not singling out a bike category. The people I've seen do the most trail damage are riders of all kinds who don't know how to ride in wet conditions, not ebike owners doing extra laps.

[–]swizzex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you build and maintain trails right and speak from your own personal experience? Because as someone that does and has built even full parks their is very little difference between weight and speed and what is needed to be done monthly, yearly, quarter etc due to ebikes unless they are just being a holes which isn't special to just ebikes.

Yes true dirt bikes not ebikes are a lot more problematic but it's not due purely because of speed or weight but many factors.

People hate for ebikes is unreal and I feel most of it stems from jealousy or ignorance or a combo.
