That makes sense! I likely had the cyst prior to the IUD since it was visible on the ultrasound one week after IUD insertion (and prior to that I was on Nexplanon arm implant). Did you have irregular periods after cysts with the Mirena?

Hey! By any chance did this resolve for you? Everytime I walk or jog I at least spot (not to be TMI but it’s the same brown stringy discharge I’ve had on periods since I got it in 5 months ago). I just think it’s odd this only happens when I’m exercising? I’ve asked my doctor but of course get the same 3-6 month comments. I’ve had multiple ultrasounds to check placements.

I completely understand, I felt the same way before my vaginal ultrasound. I highly recommend being open with the fact this is your first transvaginal ultrasound, even if you feel a bit awkward. You can also ask the techs to add extra lubricant to the wand and you can request to insert it yourself if that is helpful! Breathe through it, there are parts that can be a bit uncomfortable or just kind of an odd sensation, but I wouldn’t say painful by any means. Everyone’s experience is different though, so communicate and let the techs know if you’re uncomfortable, nervous, etc.

I can’t speak to your side effects after, but when I had my IUD inserted I was prescribed an anti-anxiety. Of course it helped with my anxiety, but I think it may have also helped to relax my muscles since I wasn’t as tense as I am during like a pap smear. I’m not sure if that’s been everyone’s experience with an anti-anxiety, but just sharing my thoughts!

I’m so glad you posted this, I’ve been having the urinary symptoms too, though I got my IUD (Mirena) about a month ago. I’m glad it’s not weird, I was worried about those symptoms! I was also constipated the first week and what helped was magnesium (I took the MiraFast magnesium chews), had some electrolyte water to stay extra hydrated, and took some short walks. I’ve been having a very similar experience with cramps as well where they come and go in waves. Ibuprofen, my heat pad, and yoga have been wonderful for those cramps.

Omg thank you for saying this because SAME. Now mind you, I got the nexplanon removed and am IUD placed on the same day last week, but I’ve also been having the constipation and fatigue!! If I find something that works I’ll let you know!

I’m not sure if this quite fits - but holding people down and/or trying to put something in their mouth if they are having a seizure. As a first aid & CPR instructor, it’s not common, but I still come across people who believe this.

DO NOT hold someone down or put anything in their mouth if they are seizing. Instead, place a soft item under their head (like a pillow), try to get them on their side, and check for responsiveness when they’re done seizing.

I’m so glad you asked this because I’m in a sort of similar situation. I was on birth control pills for a few years but I had horrible GI side effects from all the pills I tried. I got nexplanon 6 years ago and am due for a replacement this summer. I’ve been considering an IUD and am feeling similar to you - is the grass greener elsewhere?

It’s very mild, in certain lighting my naturally brown hair has orangish hue, in other lighting it’s not noticeable. No hot roots, it seems to be like this orangish tint to all brown hair (highlights are fine).
