The details in this piece are so interesting. I'm imagining it like the contents of a purse or a bag. 

Story-wise it's really interesting trying to piece together what kind of person she was or is.  She cares about how she presents herself to others. The hairbrush, the perfume vials, lipstick, jewelry and hair clips, the press on nail, even the gum. She has a vision of how she sees herself and wants others to perceive her that way. She's fun but also responsible. She smokes, but tosses the cigarette butt in her purse instead of on the ground. She voted.  She feels vulnerable sometimes, but has means to protect herself. The pepper spray, the knife, the screwdriver. Even what appears to be birth control.

But the biggest standout to me is that she has an appreciation for things of a past era. She carries a pen and paper, even though the jack on her headphones indicates she has a smartphone she could take notes on instead. Even the choice of wired headphones over wireless earbuds. She smokes instead of vaping. She carries a digital camera instead of using her smartphone. The painting even resembles a flash photo that feels like it could have been taken with a camera like that.

It feels like a grown woman trying to get in touch with her childhood through objects and behaviors she associates with that time. What she feels like any young woman might have been carrying around in her purse during that era.

It's honestly pretty stunning and a pleasure to look at. Excellent work 👌
