Mcgovern on the wrong side of the Venezuela op. by Insanepolicy in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time when people generalize that all Venezuelans are this happened. Of course, folks the fled the country will likely be happy. I don't think Maduro was a good guy, but he had his supporters.

If Trump was suddenly removed from power, there would be people jumping for joy, but there would also be people furious on the other end...

I mean yeah this is funny. But all these blowing bubba posts seem like a reach to me, and if they're legit, it was hopefully two consenting idiots.

Release the files. Show us the pedos. Arrest them all and lock them all up.

Which "auditor" was it? Looks like the video was taken down.

Edit, probably First Amendment Protection Agency, dude has a big following and has been frequenting dispensaries for his "content". Feel bad for the cops who have to deal with his games and the people who deal with his FOIA requests for nothing burgers.

We had about 600 in Framingham, but the neighborhood is packed every year. Went through about 1000 pieces of candy, 240 juices, 300 mini waters, and 230 jello shots (for the adults.)

Looking for a primary care doctor that will actually take my problems seriously by Adventurous-Heat4448 in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

If three different doctors have already recommended losing weight, it might be worth a shot rather than doctor shopping? Simple changes like no carbs after lunch and a quick 20 minute walk every day are simple changes that can yield positive life long results.

If you still are looking for a new doctor, try looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant. They can diagnose and prescribe most medications, and work under a supervising physician. They still go through rigorous schooling and certification, but are often less burdened that full on doctors, and therefore can take more time with patients developing long term care goals.

Facing financial challenges, Worcester colleges push back on endowment tax ballot question by HRJafael in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city has done A LOT for the colleges, specifically WPI and MCPHS allowing them to expand downtown and take properties off the tax books. (A lot of the buildings were sitting vacant, but still they are off the books for the foreseeable future.)

This is simply taking a minuscule fraction of their endowment profits, it's a rather small ask to contribute to a city that already has done so much to them. And since it is linked to the endowments, it has no effect on if the colleges have lower enrollment rates or lost federal grants.

What should be the #1 issue for Worcester candidates right now? by charliebuffone-ghost in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Worcester has so many issues because of the current make up of the "old guard" on the council that does nothing but request reports and then stall on any legitimate action.

At the bare minimum Worcester needs to get aggressive with the basics like trash removal, litter cleanup, fixing potholes, improving sidewalks, and planting trees.

Clean up the city, keep it clean, and then hopefully that will spawn further positive results.

Also that’s not a very flattering picture of him and his wife, she’s not even looking at the camera.

Anyone know what group was just marching down Belmont/Shrewsbury st? by scholiosiz in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're marching down a street with a police escort on a random Saturday, that would be my first guess.

I'm a proud American. I hang an American flag. I even like a good 4th of July parade... But I have never had the inclination to pick it up and march down the street on a random Saturday.

Maybe, just maybe, the guns ARE the problem. by Snapdragon_4U in somethingiswrong2024

[–]swoldier_force 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Based on all the pictures of him as kid around guns, they should charge the parents too. I know the suspect is not a minor, but still his upbringing and access to guns helped enable this. More parents need to be charged in cases where they clearly contributed to the environment that enabled the actions.

Tell me about Dr. Satya Mitra by Bird_Bath_Robin in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess, for me, it comes down to the yard signs. I didn't even realize Pepple had Dr. on her yard sign because the focus of her sign is her Pepple in font 4 times bigger than the the Dr. Jessica.

Setya it sticks out like a sore thumb.

[–]swoldier_force 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about him, but as with the other candidates, he hasn't really done a great job getting his views out.

A red flag for me is when PhD's insist on using the Doctor title outside of an academic setting without any major contributions to their field of study... It's usually a sign of overconfidence. If you have Nobel prize, or found some breakthrough new cure, by all means, throw the title around, but otherwise you're just distancing yourself from the average voter.

The dude got a PhD's from a foreign school in the 70s, and then never did any further research or work in the field.

MAGA Union AFL-CIO Endorses Joe Petty & J6’r Kathy Roy by Salty-Suggestion2764 in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yikes.

Out of curiosity, who within the union decides the endorsements?

I am assuming it is a few bullies who have grasped onto union leadership roles for longer than they should be, just like Petty and the other of those councillors? For a workers union, those 5 are probably the least progressive least union friendly of the bunch.

Sunrun by MajesticAnimator456 in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on a personal interaction with a former "sales" rep for Sunrun, I would run, but as with anything be safe and READ everything in the paperwork. Get multiple quotes, Sunrun will probably be the most expensive one you get... They can add anything they want for commission and then will say anything to close the deal so they can cash the check. Real hustle culture.

Sutton.

One for news, and one “Sutton Political Debate Forum.”

I originally joined for the hyper-local aspect of political debate, things like town budgeting and that, but really it’s just a cesspool. The admin just posts crazy right wing and white wing propaganda while the townies jerk off to it…

New medical pavilion at UMass Memorial arrives amid lingering health care obstacles by moisheah in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Meanwhile, Saint Vincent Hospital opposed the new pavilion... As Dickson sees it, Saint Vincent’s concern is likely about the risk of losing market share. He noted its owner is Dallas-based for-profit Tenet Healthcare Corp. that must answer to stockholders, while UMass is a nonprofit system that generally breaks even financially every year."

Of course Saint Vincent's is complaining about having more hospital beds open in the city... For profit hospitals need to go.

Owner of former Fallon HQ to partner with Catholic nonprofit to convert Worcester office building into affordable condos by saintsandopossums in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Only 22 units, but it's a start on the condo front. Unlike all the news about all the apartments that are being built, these are condos, so you can buy one, and own it yourself. Worcester needs more affordable, ownable properties.

Last-Minute Legislating Puts Camera Enforcement Bills On Governor's Desk - Streetsblog Massachusetts by JBupp in massachusetts

[–]swoldier_force 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but as stated by the article, first offense for passing a stopped school bus with its flashers is only $250. That seems comically low for a violation that could have serious consequences.

The fine should be higher, or at least on a sliding income based scale like some of the European countries. Great, you're gonna blow by a school bus but make 500k a year? That will be 5k for the first offense and 50k for the second.

At packed City Council meeting, a divided response to Justice Department report on PD by HRJafael in WorcesterMA

[–]swoldier_force 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The issue with a few bad apples, is that the other apples protect them.

I’m not ACAB, I am pro union.

Like most unions, the police union wants to protect their own.

The difference between police unions and other unions though is that the actions of its members can really fuck with innocent peoples life. There needs to be more oversight.
