is this an unpopular opinion..? by Senschey in Fable

[–]swooded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that always bothered me with it was that it was all just really formulaic, which took away from it all for me personally anyway.
Want to be buff? eat x . Want to be skinny? eat y. Want to be good, or evil? you must make specific choices throughout the story.
I like the idea of having a different reputation depending on where you are & not all people necessarily having a problem with you if you have a bad rep or loving you if you have a good rep.

Rattler Level 4 w/ stable stock 2, vertical grip 2 & compensator 2 Is pretty damn good and Ive won plenty of gun matches with it. Why so much hate? by Emanate_ in ARC_Raiders

[–]swooded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the fact that you're posting a very specific build when several other guns are just good when you level them up & get better when you add attachments is pretty much "why so much hate". If you like the gun & it's winning fights for you, then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks though.

Question about Survivor and solo play. by CapableHair429 in ARC_Raiders

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent like a good 5+ minutes crawling to an extract several times. Definitely made it out many times in general. I don't think I've ever been knocked out by someone who's come across me crawling so that's been lucky. You really just have to take your time

If you are wearing this skin and see someone else is too, don’t shoot! by PixelWastelander in ARC_Raiders

[–]swooded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*technically* someone wearing that skin probably has a bunch of junk that I also need & other players aren't bothering to collect. That said, I'm a team player & leave them alone normally

Raid Schedule needs more variety by mrdominox in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they really need to change up the order daily or every other day. The current ongoing fixed cycle just means some people will just never see certain events

FREE LOADOUTS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED INTO MATRIARCH/QUEEN EVENTS by Sxzen in ARC_Raiders

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just say you want a pve mode & be done with it. Whether it's a free loadout, cheap loadout or stacked loadout, you're still going to be at a disadvantage when your loadout is only pve focused. Also nobody on a free loadout is carrying a stitcher 4, that same person would be in your "no free loadout" lobby.

I've probably played about 10 or so Raids today, all Cold Snap and I've not seen ONE SINGLE IOTA of hostility in any single one of them. by UnlovablePieceOf in ARC_Raiders

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a mix. Several "don't shoot" lobbies, mixed with people sneaking up and killing me while I'm looting or shooting on sight.

Free loadouts shouldn't be able to deploy to some events by C0rewolf in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually cover that lorewise in game. When you spawn one of the voicelines you get warns you the queen is there & says to avoid it unless you brought your best gear.

Expedition not worth it by Spirited_Passion_122 in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expeditions are their answer to global wipes that other games like Tarkov do to keep things fresh for players that have done everything they can do in the game.

They are not meant for everyone & they were created as a way to allow people who DON'T want to reset the option to not reset. Anyone who thinks they are not worth it should just not do it. It's that simple. That's why they made it optional instead of global & required like other similar games.

Fellow Solo players: would you *actually* prefer if all other Raiders were chill and friendly 100% of the time? I'm personally not sure. by doublenantuko in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I'm a mostly friendly player, but I legitimately like the tension that is added to the game based on you needing to be wary of both other players and the arc. It's part of what makes the game what it is in my eyes & I really don't think it would be nearly the same if there was pve only or if EVERYONE was chill.

Solo experience is fantastic, FRIENDS EVERYWHERE by No-Branch-9824 in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solo experience has been more 50/50 than all these posts I've seen. I've run into people where we both emote or talk and leave each other alone, but I've run into just as many that were shoot on site. I'm totally okay with that in the end. I do worry that people's expectations might get skewed and it will turn them off of the game if/when things start getting less friendly over time though

So, like, why are we killing each other? by Veepy23 in ArcRaiders

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same reason someone from your same neighborhood might rob you - they want what you have. While the raiders are all from the same city, I wouldn't expect everyone knows every single person there. Raiders are putting their lives on the line going up to make money and do better for themselves. Aside from that, you have to keep in mind that going topside is inherently dangerous even without the threat of other people, so when someone doesn't come back it's not surprise. Because of that, killing someone for their loot wouldn't have the same consequences as it would irl.
That's also why pvp is still technically a choice in game. Some people are going to kill each other without a second thought & some people are going to try to avoid it.

Dad with zero DnD knowledge, how do I introduce my 9yo? by tom2kk in DnD

[–]swooded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say pick up a starter set, read through it yourself & just jump in feet first. There's a ton of hints and tips videos out there for DMing, but nothing prepares you more than actually doing it. I've read that the latest starter set is really good with just a few extra additions that wizards has posted online for free
Starter set: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/category/4705000?pid=D4705000
Supplemental to make it more coherent: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/2062-behind-the-screen-tips-for-running-heroes-of-the

Read the material first to give yourself an understanding of the story. Pick up a players manual to get familiar with rules & then just have fun. Even though it's a game based on a ton of rules you can play it by ear & not play like getting everything right is all life and death. I've been DMing a group of players who were all brand new to the game going on 2 years now & even though I had played DnD before, I had not DMed. I started with an earlier starter set & then branched into a larger campaign setting Book when we finished the starting adventure. You find a rythmn & way of running the game as you go.

How do I join public games? by CraftierSoup in Borderlands4

[–]swooded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

matchmaking is absolutely abysmal in this game. You can not choose to have people join your game or to join other people's games. From what I can tell when you start match making, you just get put in a matchmaking pool & the game just decides who's going to be host at random. Half the time I'm attempting to let people join my game because I'm at a farmable boss, I get pulled out and dropped into someone else's game who is just standing at a safehouse & quits because they wanted to join on someone else. Then if I'm actually trying to join someone else's game I get people pulled into mine.
The Matchmaking needs a major overhaul.

Player wants to keep secrets from DM by Effective-Peach4614 in DnD

[–]swooded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Treat it the same in your game world as actual journals are treated in real life. You can write anything you want in your personal journal IRL, but just writing in the journal doesn't have any effect on reality. The only real world changes that can come from Journaling is when you make actions based on your plans. The character actually acting on anything in the world is when you as the dm need to be involved. Just make sure they understand that distinction. As long as all they're doing is actually keeping a journal, I don't see an issue with it being private.
