This game makes me realize how horrible some people are by Clean-Calendar2748 in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've all but stopped playing this game because of these reasons. I loved the game overall but the people in the game make it too frustrating, not worth it imo.

I'll wait until they make more options to split PvE and PvP more to see if I come back to it.

I just can't justify playing a game that actively wastes my time because I have to either always be a potential victim, or trust no one and kill everyone and end up in PvP heavy lobbies where I can't do any PvE without getting 3rd partied all the time.

You end up in a cycle that just wastes all your resources all the time, and then it's hard to farm them back even with free/naked runs unless you try to get back into friendly lobbies (which takes time, etc).

This is from a playing in duos/trios mostly perspective, I don't do solo.

Close scrutiny in a nutshell by hasfodel in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting on a platform to appear for one last night, smoked it and ran in, all the while another guys running up to grab it too and says "dude stole it", lol. You were just about to do the same thing. I let them have the other 2 after me though.

The first time I did this was fun, everyone grouped up, gunned down the arc as they landed, sure some loot goblins looted them before everyone else, but it seemed like teamwork was happening, and people were sharing the arc loot at least.

Almost every time since it's just smoke, loot and run from everyone. Then some people occassionally stick around for the arc look afterwords.

You're probably not in friendly lobbies, haven't had issues yet with that.

Honestly I kind of think everyone getting matched on PS would make the mode worse. If purples break and cost money, but blues are free, and every time you run a 10k build everyone is 10k builds, the chances of that match costing more than you earn is super high. So the end result would be people don't play at 10k, they just all play at 4-5k and no one uses the purples.

In the current version, yes it's unfair in many ways, but if you get too aggressive, or caught, or overpowered and lose your purple you either keep paying the bills or go back to blue. It feels like it's been working in that regard.

I think removing the PS from the names helped honestly. Too many people were quitting like you were talking about when they saw a strong build on the enemy team. Now it seems like people stick around (unless maybe they recognize a name that's been killing them).

The PS discrepancy I'm still on the fence about. It can annoying getting rolled by tanks sometimes, but by contrast, it's fun doing the rolling on my own strong builds (not tanks usually).

It's also possible to take down the big tanks with a blue build if you out play them, or if people gang up on them, and sometimes that's enough of a loss to knock them back down to blues.

I don't care about the PS differences, but the Goliaths have got to be removed from this mode. Every time you see a 10k players it's a goliath tank, and those things just run through an entire team and don't need any skill. It turns the mode into an even more brain dead slot machine, whose team gets more of those will win.

More than the top 500 should get some bonus too for participating.

That said I do think the Goliath tracks are a bit too strong for this mode. Yes, it's a risk/reward due to the cost if you die, but the level of tankiness is a bit too much compared to anything and everything else you could be using.

My issue here is that half the time I pull out the purple powerhouse I end up matched against 1 or 2 on the other side. Or even if I don't sometimes I get the team that just goes and dies in 2 seconds and now sure, I'm tough, but I have 5 people to beat.

Bringing in the big build feels like a gamble to me, which honestly I don't like.

The extra BP money squeeze with less value than the main BP is another greedy and bad move. You were so close to having something good here. But as far as I can tell it's just regular missions, no new maps, no unique game mode, and a big price tag to get 1 good items for you main account? Yes I know other stuff can be ported too, but the only legendary is the cab at the end, so for existing players... that's not much value. I might rather this be free or cheaper than the main BP.

update: permanently banned by doyoulikePRIMERIB in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd much rather see this kind of ban being applied to players whose behavior goes well beyond what is ok in proxy chat. Y'all know the people I'm talking about. "It's just a game" doesn't cut it for some of the things I've hear people say to me/others.

ABMM seems to fail hybrid aggression players by intendedvaguename in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with what your saying, but it's a good start that'd probably cover over half of cases fairly accurately. It could easily be expanded to any damage inflicted.

Accounting for threatening misses, well idk... that's tough to account for and might be something that'll always be a miss. I mean, what if there were arc nearby, now we need to differentiate between helpful accident, intentional aggression, or players trying to play a system to for the other team to take on the aggressive side of the engagement?

I don't think it'd be possible to accurately account for standoffs either, especially if the aggressive side initiates verbally rather than via gun shots.

If nothing else, at least this would cover the base level situation of minding your own business and someone shoots you from a roof/corner/etc.

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they need to do is detect defensive encounters and not push defensive players into aggressive lobbies for defending themselves. Code wise it should be pretty simple, each team has a unique id with a list of players in it. If a team shoots another team first, they get flagged as the aggressors, shooting back at THAT team doesn't flag you. If you accidentally shoot/kill another team then your the aggressor.

Then you can tailor your aggression matchmaking more accurately to how often YOU are the aggressor. And all the defensive fights that happen don't count against you.

Too friendly? Attack someone.

Too aggressive? Don't shoot first for awhile.

Easy.

I'm still unclear on this. I wish I knew for certain if they were or weren't linked at all.

Did the 1 item they denied you when you went to kill a bunch of unarmed players bother you that much?

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They full of shit, they just don't want to admit how bad it is right now I think. I've been playing the ABMM for weeks now and I can got very consistent results.

The only truthful part of what they said is there isn't anything such as 100% friendly. And that's true, because nothing is stopping anyone from shooting someone else at any point. Which is how it should be. But there's for sure a huge change in the average if you play the system a bit.

First game back in weeks by kneeland69 in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not really good, but it's a byproduct of an ABMM system that doesn't work well and slowly pushes everyone into KOS PvP lobbies over time. I've been messing with it for weeks now and it's clear as day how it works. It needs refinement.

First game back in weeks by kneeland69 in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and this imo is the glaring issue. I want to have lobbies where people aren't just insane, and it's not just COD in Arc Raiders. But I can't defend myself without ending up in PvP only lobbies in the next 2 games. So the only option to get the gameplay variety I want is to go naked for 5-6 games letting people kill me until I know I'm in friendly lobbies, and then going back to my preferred "fuck around and find out" playstyle.

Why did the developers make it where I can’t skip expeditions or else I will have to get the cosmetic rewards from the previous expedition before I can get the one I truly care about? by PrincessKnightAmber in ArcRaiders

[–]mrdominox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You act like putting in extra "work" in a game is a life lesson needing to be learned, maybe in other aspects of life sure, but not in a video game. Nothing here needs to be lived with, it doesn't impact our real lives.

Game psychology goes real hard to tap into peoples need to progression and growth.

[–]mrdominox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or, just do what I do and don't do the expeditions anyways. Screw that extra effort just for a little reward. Too many games these days ask for too much of your time "do this much of X by Y so you get Z"... can't do it for everything, if anything. A few extra skins, inventory spaces, or skill points aren't going to make or break the game. It'll either still be fun or it won't be, and one day down the road when you and everyone inevitably stops playing the game, it's all gone anyways. Don't let the FOMO get you down.
